I think this is the case of both sides are right. The AT800 might be discontinued in CAN but not in US. It happen quite often. Cab20, old Ti10 are discontinued in most of the region, yet, you still can get them in HK or sometime in JP.

I am 99% sure that this racquet was damaged by your stringer. You are very lucky to have got a replacement. However, that stringing problem is still not corrected, because he will keep damaging other people's racquets.

    At800

    Hi guys,
Formerly, I owned 2 pieces of AT800, one is 3U G5 and another one 4U G5. Both restrung at 27 lbs. I broke my 4U G5 when clashed with another friend during a game. Whereas I broke my friend's racket AT700 with my AT800 3U G5. So far I havent heard that YY have discontinued AT800 production.
One of the possible xplanation for the high noon disease could be stringer's proble.;)

i hope its only the AT800 offensive thats being discontinued, dont see anything wrong with the 800s. Tried a def for like 10 minutes and that was enough to my head deep into it

hopefully it'll get reborned in new colors (or names... 900 def???) like the 700s

Not sure if this will only affect Canada. My sources tell me that the AT800 will soon be replaced with AT900 which will have a P and T version similiar to Offense and Defense option for the AT800. What does the P and T stand for? My guess is Power and Technique which equates to OF and DEF design for AT800. We will know more in March/April as I am told that's when they will be unveiled to the public....possible at the All England? Wasn't it during last year's AE2006 that the Nano9K was released?

The AT 800 is being discontinued. Period. If you want some there are some still around. The racket will be replaced with something else.

The AT 700 has a new paint job, same racket new paint. The specs are unchanged despite what you may hear. It's just paint colour.

    Thanks for the info.

I thought the new AT700 was unchanged in performance. A local picked one up last week, I hit it and it felt the same as the old one.

happens? or does it jsut kinda happen after a while..do you guys know any
other rackets that are really like the Armortec 800 Defence in most of its
    ways?

They will be still floating around, so there would not be much of a problem getting these. Collect a few if you have to.

i own a 4UG4 AT800 def (CH version) and its been excellent through the 2 years that i have had it. ive been in a number of small clashes and usually the result is a couple of paint chips.
i dont think there is anything technically wrong with the frame, just that in this case the stringer probably did something incorrect.

it's actually quite sad that yonex is going to dis-continue the AT800, ecspecially since it was such a good racket

To be upfront the AT 800 does not have a design flaw! The racket is being discontinued for a few reasons but not for design problems. The racket is dwindling in supply at retailers, not real fast but if you want one I wouldn't hesitate too long. The 800 has been a great seller and damaster should be thankful he got a 9000 as replacement. I use the 800 off myself and they don't break easy at all. My demo's stood up very well the last 2 years too. I restrung them at least 4 times in season. Only had one break and that was on a clash. I think his stringer or his machine may be to blame.

This thread should be renamed. Yonex Canada, great warranty department, btw anybody know of good stringer I can use?

I got one of my rackets strung at the Glencoe club and this place downtown called Whats Your Racket, they both string racket's really
well looking at what they did with mine, so i would recomend those
2 places, the only problem ofr me is that i have to drive like 45 minutes to
get to downtown, sjut to get a rackt strung...but its ussually alway worth it

I definitely agree that Yonex Canada has a beyond excellent warranty! The purpose of this thread was not to undermine Yonex or any division of the company. I use plenty of Yonex products and I think they're all of excellent quality.

The purpose of this thread was to see how many people have encountered similar problems with the Armortec 800 and to determine whether the racket is being discontinued so soon because of a possible design flaw. Key word is possible.

In addition, to all the people who are doubting the stringer, Yonex Canada warranty department responded to me about my most recently broken racket with the following message (and please read carefully): "We are starting to get a few Armortec 800's back with problems."

And although the Armortec 800 has not yet been discontinued in the US or other countries, I strongly suspect it will be soon as Yonex Canada has reported this information to me directly.

Reason: because there are many problem stringers out there.
Common sense: If 800 frames have probs., yonex will be discontinuing the ENTIRE armortec line, 150, 300,500,700 as well since they all have similar frame technology. (AT700 has old grommet pattern so should be even weaker if this thing was true).

looking at your pic, it is a dead give away that it's 100% stringer prob. I know coz i'm the one who discovered the high noon disease. (as documented in my July, 2001 post and many posts after that, knew about this disease even before then):p

Is this a 4U or 3U 800 you are talking about? If 3U, I'll take your word for it as I have minimal experience with them here in the U.S. If 4U, I have to disagree, the 4U AT800 break quite easily, relatively speaking.

As for a good stringer, PeteLSD is all you need. :D

Eggroll is referring to the 3U since Yonex Canada brought in the popular version.
