I have been using Yonex BG-80 for quite some time now. Recently, in my area, it has been colder than usual; temperatures dropping as low as 20 degrees farenheit. I had just strung my racket with BG80, and i noticed the strings were already beggining to fray. Eventually they snapped. After I restringed my racket again, the same result occured. This doesn't happen during spring/summer time. Is cold weather a possible explanation?
weather effects never affected me much enough for me to notice (heated gym + its surrounded by other rooms) the only thing affects my string's life time at the moment is my smash frequency of course if you want to believe it, weather can affect it. cold=retract hot=expand, at least the theories work out
Well yes that is true, if the temperatures are like extreme and constantly changing rapidly. That would also be not good for the racket as well.
I play at 4 different gyms, 1 is perfect and badminton-only... the other 3 are rather cold..and I break lots of string from mishits (lob-mishit, drive, clear, logn service...not even smashes..) CF66 might not be thát durable.. good advice is too "warm up" your strings before you play..
Yep cold dry weather kills strings, thats why Euro and US racquets tend to be strung with thicker string than Asia market racquets.
