I switched from tightly wrapped to lightly wrapped once a coach told me to do so. Now I accustomed to it and cannot change it back. He said having a more comfy feeling is the purpose of the overgrip.

    How about you guys?

Definitely tightly. I do overgrip over ridge grip, so, yeah.

I used to grip tightly as well but have found that if you play frequently enough, you'll eventually get blisters. I now grip moderately. It also depends on the grip type, some ahave more cushion than others.

Tight enough, so it stretches enough to wrap it 3-4 cm over the cone

Is getting cuticle on thumb the result of playing too frequently on tightly-wrapped grip, or due to improper handling??

Neither, that's a sign of dryness. You need to use more moisturizer/lotion on the cuticle to soften it.

Cuticle is important because it's a barrier for keeping bacteria out.
