    Now the answer has come out after days of guess on China's national flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Doha Asian Games on Friday night - shuttler Bao Chunlai will march in with the flag in his hands.

    The Chinese sports delegation in Doha confirmed the news to Tencent.

    The 1.9-metre and world No.6 badminton sensation beat many big draws for the job, including his teammate world No. 1 Lin Dan and teen ace hoopster Yi Jianlian.

    Cui Dalin, deputy head of the Chinese delegation said a flag bearer must accord with three conditions, namely "an established world-class athlete, known for a high moral standard and sportsmanship, and good looking".

    Bao is the member of the Chinese squad to win the Thomas Cup this May and enjoys a wide public praise from funs because of his genial appearance and character.

    i think BCL would be a better person..haha..as he's so tall and good looking..hahaha..lame but thats what i think!

    Wow..this is such a great honour for Bao to be the national flag bearer representing all the Chinese athletes..he deserves it :)

    If not i'm not mistaken..

    ...even reg. Olympic also follows a similar process..
    Btw, on BCL's qualification, i think with so many of his legion of groupies (in BC/BF as well) he definitely qualifies, esp. on that last criteria..If it's not him, then probably FuHF comes next...hehe:p:D;)

    Yup, I watched the opening ceremony and Bao was the flag bearer. Didn't really recognise the other athletes from China though.
    I think CCTV5 mentioned that Taufik was the flag bearer for Indonesia? But the camera didn't show him.

    whoaaa.......this morning i saw at the TV, i saw the flag bearer n i thought he looked like bao...hahaha he was really bao........

    Yep, bearing your country's flag is one of the highest honors. Signifies you are leading your country, you are (one of) the county's best. :)
