In doubles, if the birdy is slow, and you have problems lifting the bird, what should you do. Assuming that the net player is quite good at netplay and intercepting.
Ask for the shuttle to be tested. If no-one can hit the shuttle to the testing marks, then you may refuse to play with it. In practice, this means that you can insist that the shuttle be tipped to make it fly faster.
from your profile, u play plastic. plastic shuttle speed can be adjusted slightly either faster or slower. Beyond that, u should buy a slower rating shutte. mavis color speed code red-fast blue-medium greem-slow http://www.yonexusa.com/badminton/badminton_shuttle.cfm
Oops. For a moment, I forgot that some unfortunate souls are stuck playing with plastics, and hence cannot tip the shuttle
If it's a plastic shuttle, try to flatten it abit with your hand but not too much cuz it'll fly like a bullet if flatten too much.
how do u actually tip the shuttle? if you tip it inwards means it will fly faster and outwards meaning slower?
Sorry if you guys read my pf. The problem is when I play with older players, just for fun games. With plastic I have no problem lifting but feather is far more difficult when feathers get more and more damaged. And when people reuse birdies to save money, sometimes the bird ends up being slow. I was actually looking for some techniques not changing the birdy. =D
It seems hard to drive the bird fast enough not to be intercepted by the front player, even when the drives go to the back.
If this is the case, consider this game as a very causual one, as the shuttlecock is definitely not suitable for a real competitive game to begin with. No need to consider win or lose, just to have a bit fun. If you want better result, you need to use a shuttle in an acceptable condition 1st. If budget is an issue, a well made plastic shuttle is still better (and cheaper for a long run) than a totally worned out feather one.
