    no problem.
Wonder if taufik loss of shine is affecting pbsi politics. It seem pbsi is having a shakeout. Joko bailed, now hartono. Well, good luck to TH,i hope he has a game plan instead of just showing up.

    Off topic-hmm..

    ..as far as i know:
    1. i don't think either one of them are "intimidated" with each other..;)
    2. both failures and successes (LD in '05 and TH in '06) were due most likely for either one of them lacking of being fit/in-shape/in-form and vice versa..And yes, both camps(and their die-hard fans) can give "excuse(s)" for their players, but if there's anyone to blame for it, the players can look no further than themselves.;) ..The threads and posts in both WCs are already good support for what happened and they're readily available to peruse in this BC/BF, if anyone wishes to find out..;) :)

I enjoy watching TH play but I wouldn't call myself a TH fan. There are some things I like about him; his guts against incompetent umpires at his own expense and his on court attitude of respect for his opponent, never rushing them if they are slow or need time to recover, any amount of shuttle change or towel breaks etc..Basically he lets his opponent have the freedom to play at their pace and in any way that best suits them. He has none of the insecurities exhibited by the LD generation of Team CHN.
I agree with you that LD suffered from TH phobia when he lost meekly to TH in WC and SO but that 's because LD perceived TH's skills to be superior in th e first place and hence lost confidence. What I saw in the SO match was TH looking majestic and LD like a little boy, right at the start. What I don't understand is why would LD, holder of many titles(as ppl always say to boast of his greatness) and having one OC nerve wrecking experience to get over with, have this paralysing fear ,even in the presence of good LD crowd support. My guess is LD's many titles are never really his; they are Team CHN's, that's why when it came to the crunch, he crumbled.
As for AE, my curiosity is why do some posts imply that AE is above the rest of the IBF Opens. I never said an AE title is worth nothing; I just see it as an Open title, not extraordinary. There's no need to perceive like sheep here. But from what I gather, it must have a great history and tradition. Since I have not been part of that history, I'm just asking for verification from old timers whether impeccable umpiring and service judging has been one of its gold standards. ( which I found being compromised in recent editions for some key matches)

If it is true that TH is retiring after Beijing 2008, automatically this will be his last Asian Games. I wonder why he wants to quit so soon? Most importantly, what is he going to do after his career is over? Hmmm...

    Taufik's target is GOLD

I found an article in Bola Nov 24, 2006...on Taufik

    This is just the summary:

" My target in AG Doha remains unchanged. GOLD" said Taufik Hidayat at Cipayung, Tuesday 21 Nov 2006.

He considers that AG is more prestigious than WC as AG is held every 4 years. Wiining gold in AG is his main agenda in year 2006.

    :D :D :D :D

But PBSI didn't target him to grab GOLD, is it a soft-strategy or what? Next 4 years, he almost impossible to compete in Guangzhou. So, Doha AG is the last multi-sport event for TH to create glorious because some info said doubtedly he want to fight in Beijing OG/08.

Meanwhile, CHN as world bdm superpower set the bombastic target for DOHA AG. Quoted from KOMPAS 24/11/06 -- LYB said self-confidence of CHN shuttlers give him optimistic feeling to make clean sweep 7 Golds in Doha. We have one goal, get more golds compare with dissapointed results 4 years ago.--

With TH's himself determine to claim Individual Gold, can he bury LYB's obsession to book perfect-mark (7 Golds) in Qatari capital?? Ooo sounds will be hot duel again between TH and LD!

TH add color and excitement to badminton, along with LCW and PG provide challenge to Team China. With no potential stars in the horizon coming up from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and Denmark, 4 yrs from now, MS would be like WS, boring and all China finals in most events, I bet dollar to donut CJ will win most opens and be king of badminton. Therefore, Cooler, reading your previous thread, you do not have to bash TH too much and kiss LD and the rest of Team China too much, when TH and LCW retire, we will miss them. Match fixing by LYB to cash in his bonus just spoil the game. The game is exciting with LCW, TH and PG battling Team China, and that is what fans in us would like to watch. The day will come when badminton tournaments would no longer be fun. Unless Tommy Sugiarto (so far he is thefuture from Indonesia unless I miss out somebody) can be somebody or some miracle players come along from elsewhere, China will dominate just like WS. China already has CJ and more coming up to pick from 1.3 billion people, and who is there from the rest of the world to take on CJ? I still say I am lucky to see Ms in WC05, WC06 is disappointing to a fan, WC07 I hope is better as I plan to attend in my home country.

That is indeed Taufik. He makes people confused with what he said....don't know which one to believe, what he said in Bola is quite contracdited with what he said after athletes meeting with President.

below are the some quotes from the article (indopos and www.bulutangkis.com). Basically the President said to him "don't forget to bring back Gold", but after that meeting, Taufik said to media that he can't promise, "I want Gold but I don't set target"

SBY menumpukan harapan medali emas kepada pebulutangkis Taufik Hidayat. Harapan itu disampaikan saat para atlet bersalaman dengan SBY dan pejabat lainnya. Tiba giliran Taufik bersalaman, SBY langsung menyapa. Jangan lupa bawa emas, ya, kata SBY.

Taufik sendiri usai acara mengatakan tidak berani berjanji. Kalau saya sih ingin emas.

Doakan saja. Teman-teman yang lain juga berusaha, katanya.
