For those living on the BC west coast, a reminder to boil your water for at least 1 minute before consumption. You'll have noticed how turbid (cloudy) our water has become because of all the recent rain. The increased turbidity levels (up to 80 times normal at one of the resevoirs) could mean higher bacteria count in the water. Health Canada has advised boiled water not only for drinking, but for washing vegs and even for brushing your teeth (if you don't brush teeth, please disregard :p ). The other option is of course bottled water. Plus I'm not sure how clean you'll be from showering after an evening of sweat-drenching badminton. Hope nobody catches anything nasty.

Bottled water should be the least profitable item in Canada. I remember when I was in Canada, the water from the tap was the best I ever had. Better than any water, bottled or otherwise.

Well, bottled water is suddenly a hot commodity. A lot of the big stores have already sold out. Good tasting water does not equate to safe drinking water this week. :(

I used to drink straight out of the tap for much of the eighties but switched to boiled water in the nineties.

Strangely, my uncle from Hawaii told me that Hawaian tap water is better tasting and clearer than Vancouver's. :D

I've been to Hawaii twice and IMHO, the tap water is definitely not as good as Canadian tap water. I've been to Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Molokai, not the other three. Maybe one of the other three has superior water but I doubt it. Hawaii has one thing for sure better than Canada, pineapple. :p

OK we have a crisis here. I can't find any bottled water AT ALL. So ironic that we have all this rain around us and it's causing all the havoc.

Soon we'll see water at gas pump prices :p

You may even want to filter your water through filteration and coffee filters and what not... if you're REALLY paranoid you might want to add water treatment tablets [Iodine/Chlorine]

Hope everyone's staying healthy! ... and I hope the problem will be resolved soon...

Coffee filters didn't really work for me. I just find bottled water is the easiest solution. Now that the mad rush is over, there should be better availability.

Also if you're at any of the coffee joints, remember not to order any of the frappuccinos 'cos the water's not boiled. Stay healthy.
