Just wondering... how much are people paying on their cellfone bills (if u dont mind disclosin em)

I've been workin at Fido for a while now... it's always odd for me to see people come in to pay for cellfone bills in the 6-700s... I mean... how long would u have to be the fone to rack up this kinda bill @@

I use a prepaid service, so RM30 a month is fixed. Most of the services here in Malaysia, even the postpaid lines are getting so cheap for both local and for IDD calls that one will have to constantly be calling overseas to non-common countries to rack up what I assume is US$ 600 - 700.

$59.99 (500 minutes/month) for 2 lines plus lots of unknown taxes and charges ended up over $70. This should be standard rate for 2 lines in US for most major cell phone carriers. But got $300 dollars rebate from the reseller for signing 1 year contract. But we seldom use more than 50 minutes a month. Consider switching to pre-paid plan which is 25 cents per minute. I have a friend working as a real estate agent. His cell phone bill runs over $1000 per month. Wish him won't get brain cancer. :(

i try not to let a phone run life so i rarely use my cellphone. I read a news article saying that north american is paying more for cell phone service than other asian countries including new zealand and AUS. I usually pay 30 CAD/mth and i just changed to a barebone plan of 15-25 cad/mth

Actually, North Americans are paying more for cell fone service than anywhere else in the world in terms of technology + service/ cost ratio

Technology in Asia is far more advanced than us by 2-3 generations on average and they have cheaper prices... Europe has probably the same price as us but their technology again is 2-3 generations ahead.

Im hoping that March next year will be the end of this rediculous market here in Canada when number portability comes out. Hopefully the cellfone companies will try to kill each other with low rates (which will in turn benefit the customers)

HAHAHAHAHAHA you are so right about this one!!! The "unlimited incoming" "feature" that we sell here is a standard in Asia. Just one of the many "great features" we have ;)

If u were in Canada I'd recommend Fido :D

3G is never coming to Canada. We skip 3G and go right to 3.5G (HSPDA) ;)

It's launching sometime next year in select cities only though... so keep an eye out if you're in one of the big eastern cities!

Around 40 ringgit a month. Digi prepaid rocks. =) Unlimited Free sms-es to 6 numbers.

3G here in Malaysia is available. But...I haven't met anybody who uses it. Smsing, probably the most popular hp usage here, doesn't need it.

my student plan with rogers (with taxes and service fees) run CAD$31 per month, and I get 200 weekday/unlimited weeknight/weekends. My friend's runs $10 more and she gets unlimited everything.

I really like the word "unlimited" ;)

I heard that you can get the same plan with Fido for $40/mo (before service fees and taxes), so I think that paying $700 a month for a phone bill is absolutely ridiculus... but then again my friend paid $1000 once for talking on the phone for hours on end every day...

Solution: get a plan with some sort of "unlimited" talking :)

I pay only US$3 per month for 100 minutes. As I don't use my cellphone that much I have not bothered to opt for the US$6.50/500 minutes per month offer. I was given a 6 months loan of a 3G cellphone with free unlimited calls and an option to buy it and sign up at attractive terms. I used it for the 6 months and returned the 'phone. At such low charges the use of cellphones can be abused. If you commute in Hong Kong you will find people on the cellphones, using headphones, talking for hours gossiping.
