Does anyone saw this news?. I saw it at 1.30pm news on the TV. At a football match (place & team not known as was not really paying attention to the news),the ball was kicked out near the goal post. When the goalkeeper went to pick up the ball , a little boy pick up the ball first and kick the ball into the goal maybe just for fun. But the referee award the goal. It was clearlly shown on the TV the whole picture. The goal stand even protest by the players of the affected team. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!
huh? how can it be a goal when the ball was out of play and the referee has not even initiate the goal kick?? I thought the GK is suppose to touch/kick the ball first??
hahaha, surely if a little boy picked it up (assuming he's not on the team) then it's crowd intervention and shouldn't count. if it does count, then it should be a penalty and a red card if he's from the same team as the goalkeeper, or just a red card for handling the ball if he's on the opposite team. there's not way a goal should be awarded ...
Ball boy scores in Brazil RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - A Brazilian referee faced suspension on Tuesday after she awarded a goal that television pictures showed was scored by a ball boy. The 89th minute goal allowed Santacruzense to snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Sorocaba in the Paulista Football Federation (FPF) Cup on Sunday, a regional tournament played in the state of Sao Paulo. Pictures showed that after a Santacruzense player shot narrowly wide, the boy collected the ball with his feet and took it back on to the pitch. However, instead of returning it to the goalkeeper, he subtly tapped it across the line into the net. Although there was nearly 10 seconds between the shot going out and the boy placing the ball over the line, referee Silvia Regina de Oliveira awarded a goal amid furious Sorocaba protests. Oliveira, who has refereed in the Brazilian first division and the Copa Sudamericana, said she based her decision on the linesman. "I should have trusted my own vision," Oliveira said in a radio interview. Marcos Marinho, head of the FPF's refereeing commission, said the goal would stand and the referee would face suspension. "It was a very serious mistake and, unfortunately, the punishments will have to be applied for the referee and linesman," he said. "There was a lapse of concentration and that can't happen in football."
how could she say afterward that.. "I should have trusted my own vision," Oliveira said in a radio interview. when obviously she didn't see the event?
since the ball is pickup up behind the back field line (dead ball) , by hands other than the goalie (illegal), no one can score like that except the receiving goalie himself.
