So... here's a random idea that popped into my head while trying to sleep last night: Would it be advantageous to have strings that are a little sticky? Like how pingpong paddles have that sticky rubbery surface so that they can put spins on the ball, maybe sticky/rubbery strings can allow for better tumblers and slice drops. What do you guys think?
warning dont try this at home: haha thats such a good idea, i tryed it, i put a extra rubber sheet i hade from my table tennis paddle(i allways keep extras) and i stuck it on the end of my old racket, i didnt stay on, so i taped it, lol its head heavy now, and wen u cache birdies they just stick, and its really bounchy at the net, but it dosent make it over alot of the time, meh worth trying, i was halarious thow, i was the only one in the gym except my brother who had to see this, and a janitor, she gave me a funny look lol warning dont try this at home
Some strings have textured surface for better grip/friction. Ashaway Micro Legend XL (or is it Micro Power?) is an example.
I agree. When string with 88Ti (especially working on crosses), it feels like there are "glue" on the string surface.
hmmm... guess my idea wasn't so original after all, haha. Thanks guys, I think I'll give bg88ti a try.
Yep, but PG Neon has significantly more grip than the Power version of the strings. The Power version is more durable.
What do you want me to say? There's not much more to say. Please state if you are looking for something specific.
PG 65 and 66 come in 2 versions indeed. Neon and Power. Here, are more infos about ashaway strings : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26056&highlight=ashaway http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33352&highlight=ashaway http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32214&page=4&highlight=ashaway
A slight texture of the string would impart some spin on the feather when struck in a specific way, I am sure experiments have been done that show the net effects.
