    nice try loh;)
thanks to global warming, our winters are getting milder and milder each year.
I only needed to shovel sidewalk snow 2-3 times last winter, versus typical 10-15 times. We can play all year around too if one dont mind playing in several clubs. It's quite nice playing in winter days, indoor wise, the court hall is quite 'cool'. Even in summers, the drying time of heavy sweat is only like 10-15 mins if one wear dri-fit/coolmax fabric. An malaysian told me he use to shower 5 times a day, and that's not including from playing badminton.:p

i do admit chicken rice in SG is much better than here:(

Count me in! Malaysia has different races and all get along well! We have da best malay, chinese and indian cuisine here! And you get to see beautiful Indian and Chinese temples, or the Mosques!

And we also have nice beaches, tropical rainforest and colourful borneon culture. And you get to see the distinguished petronas twin tower or else the famous Bintang Walk to shop around

    Definitely truly asia!

Well, I was already happy before you told me (as I am from Canada). I just want the world to know that Canadians are happy with Canada! Our tax was just reduced to a mere 14% in Ontario. Huzzah!

Most Hong Kong people don't pay tax at all, even if they earn US$30,000 a year. Yet people here are not as happy as those in Malaysia. They complain everyday, on everything you can think of, and they put on more public demonstrations than any country almost on a weekly basis.
Every citizen in any country accepts the government's need and right to get revenue from sales tax. Try this in Hong Kong they will burn the city down.:D

And the Sultan is generous! I understand you receive free education (whether this extends to tertiary/uni level?) and no income tax. Makes me wonder why FEND should leave Brunei for Perth cause education can really cost a lot!

But of course, money aside, the quality of life counts and expectations of people are varied and different.

I don't know how Singapore was ranked but, unlike Hong Kong, our government is quite strict on 'unlawful assembly' and public demonstrations. That's perhaps one reason why Singapore does not score well on 'human rights' because outsiders may not fully understand its social history and the problems that it has encountered on race, language and religion.

But it appears that more Singaporeans are staying put and less migrate to other countries. Conversely, we have more people migrating to Singapore maybe for better jobs, a more secured and safe society, law and order, better public housing, good education, etc.

In the past, Singaporeans migrate because our education system may be seen by some parents to be too rigid, parents fear compulsory military training (NS) for their sons, life was too fast-paced, etc. But through the years, our education system has improved to provide for different abilities and talents; military training is now accepted as good training, personal development and discipline for the young adult before he starts work; a leadership that continues to think of new ideas to propel the economy forward; all are treated equal in the eyes of the law, etc. All these make a difference.

But of course, no country in the world is perfect! They thought there was one - Shangrila .... But it was only a dreamy wish! :(

the 14% is just the sales tax.
U forgot we still pay very high income tax.

despite all of the taxes, I rather live in canada rather than being back in Indonesia. I'll put up with all the weather, taxes, and other weird stuffs such as: in resto: where is the bloody spoon? all we got is fork and knife. who eat rice with fork? it so much harder. and rice is not salad, it's the main staple. and btw, Indonesia is ranked 64th according to that chart earlier.

I have an idea that perhaps might go a long way to make more people happier. Let the top 50 happy countries take down their immigration barriers and provide incentives to the bottom least happy countries' people to immigrate to their countries. New blood for spreading happiness!
