The computer chip in the racket is only designed to make the racket more powerful by giving voltage the racket. - talking about teh Head Intelligence Tennis Racket here. Only the 18S has the computer chip (Chip system).

This computer chip gets power from getting impact from the ball (like kinetic energy). - It's using some technology which is being used by NASA and other stuff. During impact, the computer chip will automatically send a certain amount of voltage to the frame to make it stiffer depening on various types of hits; therefore make the hit more powerful. The chip is actaully encased into the handle itself so it will guarentee to last for life.

From what I heard, is that the top players say that this racket is way too powerful becuase of the chip when they tried this racket out. They prefered to use the rackets without the chip.

No the chip is not upgrable lol! Only gets power by getting the racket hit!!

I'm just wondering if that kind of technology will be implemented into badminton.

That racket costs about 500 CDN!!

You can look at the Head Intelligence racket here.

wow, i have never seen or heard of this kind of technology before. how come this never became popular in the market? it would be very interesting to see this kind of technology in a badminton racket. NanoChip 10000!

I asssume it did not fall through simply because the tennis rackets which came out years after and to the current day, do not have a chip in them.

well they actually have taken a new approach. instead of offering power, which players feel they can generate themselves, they're offering protection. Tennis elbow is a nightmare for all tennis players. It's mainly caused by improper technique and also when the racquet and/or string is too stiff, causing vibrations that hurt your arm.

Head is now offering racquets with a computer chip which can cancel the vibrations from transfering to your arm. I wouldn't say it's the most successful thing they've made, but it is getting sold.

Wow I didnt knwo about that either until I just read this, makes me wonder about my Forzas "computerized shaft" lol I know theres no computer chip in it. That is interesting though that they could develop the technology to do that with tennis racquets.

In fact, Head also applied this concept on the squash rackets. So it may be possible to applying same thing on badminton gear (I only concern the size of badminton rackets are too small when compare with Tennis and Squash rackets). But Head does not make badminton gears, so nobody can prove it.

hm...i, for one, am against this chip in racket to make the shots more powerful(considering if it was out :D)....if it does come out...then the sport would be more about technology than than pure human strength...i mean...why wouldnt the olympics let players use drug prior to games such as steroids but let them use technology in their equipments instead?

i didn't check the date of the posting and thought that this was a latest news thingy. Made me think about Adidas's line of shoes, the A1.1 series. Chips in shoes, chips in racquets? What can they think of next? Chips in shirts to regulate sweat more? Or chips in glasses to predict your opponent's next move? haha...Jedi powers...!!

I have a wish. When a chip is put inside a badminton racket, I wish the racket stiffness could be adjusted. It should be a little bit more flexible when the player is about to do stroke/drive and get stiffer when the player is about to smash. Perhaps this racket will be available in 2020. :D
