Regarding the matter with RBF: http://www.internationalbadminton.org/newscontent.asp?pageid={E9797CF6-B2C8-4B31-A922-67D80A57DAF3} "On 5th May 2006, the IBF Council determined that the body known as Russian Badminton Federation (RBF) is no longer recognized as a member of IBF."
Well maybe it does cost them a few minutes and some thinking . The beauty of the internet. Everyone is hidden.
Obviously, all these disputes are damaging the sport of badminton There is more information here: http://www.badminton.de/Neue_Praesentation.468.0.html http://www.badminton.de/IBF.333.0.html http://www.eurobadminton.org/news_item.aspx?id=1147 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32760&page=2 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30561
Do that and badminton will be marginalised even more. The Olympic status will come under further scrutiny. May I add that it was the existance of two seperate world badminton bodies that hindered the implementing of badminton as a professional sport.
You are assuming the EBU is against the new system. Member national countries of the EBU obviously did not collectively overturn the adoption of the new system, which they could with their votes.
I dont think any judge would allow for a successful suit. We come here anyonymously. There are so many forums like this on the web...
Well, if a judge had cooperation with people in the right jurisdictions, enough records (login records from kwun, IP tracking from the ISP involved) could be subpoena'd that any login could be tracked down so anonymity is not necessarily a defense against civil action. Kwun is not responsible for what people say on his forums. If a slanderer did post to this forum, theoretically, civil action could be taken; however, taneepak errs in saying "we" since he has nothing but adulation for Punch, judging from the posts I've read. One can't be sued for posting rebuttals to tirades against a plaintiff.
I have heard the situation when ( a couple of years ago) the US badminton president Don Chew brought a civil lawsuit with a libel claim in the courts against several people who had written to PLAYBADMINTON.COM forum. Last I heard was that the case was thrown out by the judge and the US badminton president was asked to pay the legal expenses of all the people he sued. It served him right! But, after sometime from that case the website owners shut it down. Does anybody know why it was shutdown? Was it just too much trouble to be responsible for this kind of lawsuit etc.
play badminton In response to playbadminton.com, I think the individuals who were running it had to pay for attorny fees. Also, I herd that they ran into some personal troubles with their own individual clubs, so they got burnt out and decided to focus their energies elsewhere. A friend of mine has tried to create a replacement for their old website, but so far it has not received that much attention. PLEASE all USA subscribers here check out www.play-badminton.com Lets make this website the new U.S. site for information for badminton. Thanks, Toddster
I think people should really open their eyes and start realising that Gunalan is a crook What gives Gunalan the right to intefere with other countries badminton association?? Before Gunalan took over there was no such debate or issues However, less than a year look @ all the woohaa drama thats happening I can assure u, majority that rise to power in Malaysia eventually becomes corrupted (no offence to Malaysian) They will take unecessary actions just to gain publicity and everything.. Did u notice prior to the move from EU to Malaysia, the news section in our beloved www.worldbadminton.net was mostly about badminton news such as atheletics acheivements and results?? Contrast it to now.. it has frequent politics news such as award presented to Mr.xx, and did you notice Gunalan's face appeared there more than once already on the main page?? Gunalan makes his decesion in a political manner All I notice is that he is promiting himself alot rather than promoting badminton This is sad, if things remain like this eventually Gunalan will weaken other badminton union and gain all the authority and power to himself (or IBF alone) I think its matter of time.. I doubt badminton will ever advance anywhere.. surely there must be something we all can do to put a stop to all these..
From a neutral point of view, you could say that the country's association was in a mess beforehand that Gunalan is the one with the guts to put it in order (but taking flak from other people). Thread closed.
