Hey Jinryu, Been a little bogged down with work lately. I'll stop by RSM when I have a bit more time. Oh boy our match against your Div 1 team a few weeks ago was my first visit to RSM this year. hehe In any case, concentrate on your summer term! You can organize the SOTX in the Fall or even later on. I'm sure SOTX will have some personnel to help you out with the planning/running of it since they're the ones who asked you to do it. Perhaps they'll even subsidize for the cost of renting a larger gym. You and silentlight did a great job in organizing last year's tournament. A bit congrats to your Division 5 team for clinching the division title in LBA competition! Next step: Division 4.
hey Kevin about that SOTX tournament, i could probably help you with it. i'll talk to you about it when i go to RsM
I'll problably join you guys on April 22nd. Just have a small question: How many RsM members we have so far?
So far, registered-- without looking at my records, I'm counting at least 15 so far, and we haven't even been open yet. These are 15 'pre-registrations', I guess you would call them.
We'll probably be introducing a summer price (which starts only on June 3rd, when we have double gyms) since it seems that a lot of people are being tied down with exams and can't join just yet. Everyone who is studying, you know who you are... good luck! We'll still be there when you're done. the YBA finally got back to me and mentioned that they want to do something with RsM on May 29th... probably some sort of mini-tournament for beginners, or, as they mentioned, a "Badminton Party" with all sorts of strange events. Details will follow once I'm done with my exams!
What is the YBA? Are they affiliated with the Huaxia club in the LBA? This tournament sounds interesting. Good luck on your exams and post the info asap.
YBA is the "Youth Badminton Organization". It's a bunch of girls, mostly former marianopolis students I think, who wanted to start a badminton organization of some sort in order to coordinate mini-tournaments and stuff. They are marianopolis student based, but in that sense, they're not related to Hua Xia.
Oops. It's Youth badminton ASSOCIATION. I haven't been getting much sleep lately. Thanks for all the offers for help, we're sure gonna keep it in mind.
Hi Guys, I'll swing by for sure during the Summer. You guys should definitely implement a rotation system(something like at Pierrefonds, Ile-Bizard and West-Island clubs have), especially when there's only 4 courts available. Otherwise, you guys end up like in Chinatown (ie 20 people fighting for one court). Cheers! Tayo
A reminder to everybody-- we're closed today for the mothers day weekend! (You can always check the website to see the schedule to make sure of the open dates). We'll be back open next saturday. Also, we're going to have a June-August membership for 50$. Someone mentioned that our previous membership period, being April-August was inconvenient for students who were still doing final exams and all that. So we've got a new membership period for June-August, which coincides with the dates that we'll have twice as many courts. Hope to see you all there!
Note to everyone-- I've launched a forum for members of the RsM badminton club. If you're a regular member or even an occasional guest, you should sign up so you can get to personally know more of the local montreal players. http://www.racketsportsmontreal.ca/forums/phpbb2/ No, the site's not meant to compete with Badminton Central (though there are more than a few ideas that were based on BC). However, this forum will deal with a lot more of local events that would be inappropriate (right word?) for the international community of BC. The forum will also have bulletins for any changes in the club's schedules, closed days due to holidays, price changes, etc. Hope to see all you montrealers there!
Yes It's still available we still play every saturday. The stringer is very experienced he's been stringing for many years
