Taller? Its like 80% genetics and 20% environment/lifestyle. The only thing you can do is to eat your veggies and make sure you get all the nutrients that you need everyday.

Bigger? What kind of bigger are you talking about? You could try pigging out everyday :D. I think you are talking about getting big muscles. If thats the case, people weightlift to get those. But before you run out and weightlift a lot, you have to make sure that you are weightlifting using proper technique or you WILL injury yourself. Improper technique may screw up your body's growth, something that you evidently don't want. Do a search on toning, its basicly weightlifting a light load with a high number of reps.

If you want to get big, you definitely need a right diet and work out at the same time. For some people, it's hard to gain weight than others. Badminton players work on their muscle tone, not size since it will slow them down.

if u want muscles , than i would say workout on weights workin on some *slow twitch* fibres and take some protein powder or protein supplements (goes to work on building new muscle right away).

but.... if you want to improve your badminton game, getting buff muscles wont make you any better, itll make you slow and less flexible

just look at the world champs these days, most of em are pretty skinny no?:p

creatine protein powder and heavy weights with low rep high sets... if you want bigger muscles.

if you want to get taller, there are apparently certain drinks you can get but I have no idea if they are safe or not. Also I heard that you only grow taller in your sleep, so sleep in!

Sleeping is very important indeed. That's how one stores new knowledge (of badminton technics for example)

SOme people can't even get "bulk" muscles no matter how hard they try. It all comes down to genetics. Darn, wish I had faster reflexes ! :p

Taking protein can have other advantages other than just muscle growth, protein repairs the muscles and yes also causes them to grow so if you have that hardcore session a bit of protein will help your muscles to recover faster and can help to bluk them up a bit but not by taking it by itself will it cause your muscles to grow like that. If you want them to grow faster then take it and workout then you will see results, whey protein for right after a workout and then creatine for longer period after workout. The only muscles which shoudl be worked are your legs I believe like calfs and all that since they are important in badminton but you can do that by running, swimming, etc...but my calfs are so small :crying:

Genetics are a huge factor in how you develop physically, however, there are a number of things you can do in order to maximize your potential.

Proper Diet: Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (bran, whole wheat bread, etc). Make sure you get enough calcium as it is neccessary for developing strong bones and teeth. Make sure you eat enough complete protein. Almost any kind of meat is a complete protein (fish, chicken, beef, pork, etc) but you might want to avoid meats high in fat. Fat requires more oxygen to break down for energy than carbohydrates and it also takes longer to break down. If you are a vegetarian you can get complete protein by combining beans and rice or eating SOY.

Exercise: There are many benefits to getting regular exercise. Exercising aerobically a minimum of 3 to 4 times per week (for at least 30 minutes at a time) will greatly improve your cardiovascular system. Exercise increases growth hormones and conditions your body to better handle free-radicals. Regular exercise also has a positive psychological effect.

Sleep: Get plenty of sleep. Some people need more than others but the recommended amount is at least 8 hours per night. (Personally, I need about 9 or I feel tired the next day.) When you sleep, your muscles are "recharged" with glycogen (a complex carbohydrate manufactured by your body from the food you eat). If I don't get enough sleep, I usually end up "dragging" myself around the court.

Avoid: Soft drinks, overly proccessed foods, candy, bad fats. Some soft drinks have been found to "leech" calcium out of the bones and should be avoided. Highly proccessed foods such as potato chips or candy are bad for the body because not only are they "empty calories" (lacking vitamins and nutrients) but they also have things that are not so good for your body such as excess salt, sugar, and fats. Bad fats include things like trans-fat or saturated fat and consumption of these fats can contribute to heart disease. These are found in proccessed snacks and some meats. The good fats come from many sources including fish, olive oil, and soy; these are much better for the body.

    Hope that helps.

Actually, it works to our advantage. I usually back up, jump with my partner and the opponents cannot see where or how my partner is going to hit the shuttle. We call it, "Pop goes the weasel." :p
