I see...but nowadays, how many players would actually spend some time preparing shuttles for a game? I dont think i would cause i'm too lazy I'd rather just get a new tube..
I use a humidifier to keep the shuttles moist. There are many ways to hydrate a shuttle: mist, steam, manually spray, refrigerator, shower, saune...do a search on steaming the shuttles for more info.
wouldnt that make the shuttlecock heavier (albeit faster)? it may be a good practice for dry (less humid) countries but for my country i think doing that would ruin any non-plastic shuttles. anyway ive been using RSL Tounrey no.1 lately..(77speed) and i think its trajectory is just perfect, and the bird doesnt wobble a bit during spins / extreme net slashes. the way the shuttle arc from strong baseline clears to net drops shows an almost perfect flight path... personally i prefers that compares to the 'how long my shuttle last' evaluation some ppl used. plus it cost peanuts here in malaysia !!
In some places (e.g., AZ), the climate is so dry that feather shafts and corks become very brittle. You don't need to mishit the shuttle to break them. Just hitting it back and forth in a rally, solidly 5--6 times or so would break a dry shuttle. I know that's hard to believe---I didn't believe it when I started playing here too---but, it's really that bad. So, for us here, if we don't humidify the shuttles, we can go through about a tube per match depending on who's playing and how often they mishit. (Some people are worse than others. ) That can be very expensive very quickly. For me, anyway.
That's what I used to think. But going through so many tubes, I decided to try hydrating...and it really works! By hydrating my shuttles via misting, I've increased the durability 10% to up to 40% in some cases.
I'm most likely switching over to Hi-Qua shuttles the next batch I order (HQ Blue). I prefer the Proace shuttles, but I can't get them anymore. The quality off this last batch for my tuorney is excellent, and if anything, slightly slow ( which is unheard of for this area) - given the cold air they will be great for summer. I'd say they are on par with As-20 if not better. At $13.5 a tube (though I tend to order 30+ tubes at a time) you can't go wrong.
26 of RSL No.1? That's lot. I think you guys may use China version, which you can see there is a sticker on the tube, writing some chinese on it. If not, you better buy RSL Classic, that definitely save money in your level.
Nope, they were the UK ones. I haven't seen any perceivable differences between the UK and China ones. But then again, I don't play a lot of RSL high grade shuttles. Only on those special occasions.
I only use plastic types of Shuttles & its Yonex Mavis 350. Its a very good birdie but the cork starts spinning after a really hard hitting rally.
i just bought a batch of Protech masterpiece at SGD23 per tube. plays not bad. considering the price of yonex, i think Protech are more worth it
RSL Tourney(3) speed 78's for club use, there half the price of Yonex Aerosensas and fly just as well.
RSL~~ highly recommand hi everyone.. i used victor and yonex ,finally i pick RSL suttlecock to play from now on which i bought from ebay. . they are good~~
