that cam was for righties only cooler. like those slr or dslr, there won't be a left-handed version. ;)
by the way, i know that lin dan and bao chun lai use their right hand to write.
i m a lefty myself but when i play a guitar. i just play like stevie ray vaughan not like jimi hendrix! :D
    i guess there won't be a 100% lefty! ;)

It is really not common to have pll that uses both left and right hands to play badminton. Sally does that. She is just exceptional.

left and right hand are largely due to chinese custom which believe that using left hand to write and pick up a chop stick is rude. I have few friends who was taught to use their right hand to write and pick up chopstick since young although there are lefties. when they started to play badminton the would use their left hand because it is stronger..

There is so much that a celebrity like Sally Yip can do to help promote badminton. She can give her appearance during intermission such as singing a song or giving a speech. Moms and pops who are fans of her will start buying tickets to see badminton tournaments. Also, Sally can convince producers in HK to make a movie called "Shao Lin Badminton" to break the box office record <img>

she is a righty AFAIK. but she got tennis elbow on her right arm. the badminton bug however, was too strong so she started playing with her left arm. how's that for being a keen badminton player?!

yes, changing racket arm to continue playing badminton demonstrate true dedication indeed :)

I dont think i can able duplicate that feat. Changing my racket arm will screw up my footwork

It looks like she's getting tennis elbow in her left forearm as well. That is a very keen badminton player.

    Thanks for all your support!

Hello all here at this thread!!

Thanks so much for your wonderful support of my post at IBF. I'm really eager to do some good but they are so busy and don't seem to know where to put me, but somehow I will squeeze myself in there to do some major movement I hope!

I love all of the photos you posted. I hope we can put them up on our GGBC Badminton Central site. I don't know how to do that though. Anyone care to teach?

Well... please give me very many tips on how everyone here thinks badminton can go forward so we can have a big chunk of the sporting pie on the world front. I'd really like to hear everyones input!

    Sally

Ha ha, that sums up the IBF, I'm afraid. Does anyone know if they actually plan ahead before carrying something out? Sorry to be so cynical but I hope for Sally's sake they actually have something mapped out for her duties. Otherwise I suggest BC take over! :D :D

I think Sally's first order of business should be to get the World Championships to be held in the SF Bay Area... :D

    Lefty or Righty?

Let me explain my arms. I have quite severe tennis elbow in my right arm. It's getting MUCH MUCH better now but I'm still at fear to play with it. I want it to be completely healed and then I will protect it like nothing else, which is what I'm doing to my left arm now. I am giving my left arm 10 pounds of PREVENTION. There is no fear like the thought of never being able to play badminton again so I am doing everything in my power to avoid such a calamity! :crying:

Since my right arm, I have been severely depressed to the point where I visit 5 doctors a day. Since my arm is so much better, I have no idea WHICH doctor is giving me the right cure, but who cares? In my future, I will still continue such high maintenance so my arm never feels pain again.

My left arm is my savior now but I can tell you it is torture of another planet cos my legs go one way and my brain goes another and my arms go another. It is really impossible to play with the left arm especially when I play so lousy, but I have no choice so now I strap my left arm down just to avoid the remote possiblility of an injury of any sort. I know I look like a walking straight jacket with all those arm bands, but I simply can't worry about asthectics at this junction :D . I also want a "spare" arm JUST in case. Now when I cannot hit those damn backhands with my left, I switch to my right and that confuses the opponent like nothing else... ha ha.. but it's fun. I know I can't do that in tournament but to my friends, it's OK.

So please pray for my recovery, for if I have to play with my left arm, I will never do justice to the name AMBASSADOR FOR IBF. People would walk away if they felt, OH, if I play badminton I will play like SALLY. How embarrassing!

    Sally

    >>So please pray for my recovery, for if I have to play with my left arm, I will

I saw Sally at IBF championship in Anaheim for the first time, didn't know who she was.

I am really glad she is taking this job, it's not an easy job, at least, not as easy as most peoples would thinks, I believed that she will be a great AMBASSADOR for the sport of badminton.

I Will pray for your speedy and full recovery.

    welcome back Sally :)

I think you would do good for the IBF. I think they are just feeling you out now ;) It's a old boy network so a new kid (a pretty one too) in town might make them a little shy but they know and we know that fresh idea and new blood is needed here. I'm sure we all here in BC and other badminton groups would support you all the way.

I'm no medical doctor but i think tennis elbow should be reversible. Ie, after treatment, rest, recovery plus physio plus strength training building back the tissue connectivity, your arm should be alright to play again. This time around though, proper technique is essential. Your desire to play badminton is truly admirable.

If you get injured from badminton, that will definately be bad publicity. ;)

I also think Cooler has a point. It's a very novel situation for a predominately Asian sport to have an enthusiastic personality to help them out.

rubbish, it should be Hong Kong. hehe But they need a another venue. QE stadium is nice in that it's quite intimate - but definately more seats could be sold. I remember the TC finals there were loads of people suddenly wanting to buy tickets for the finals.

5 doctors? :D probably, not playing with your right arm is doing more than those doctors. hahaha :D
