    Quick review:

XD: So-so match. (Yawn) Both pairs made lots of unforced errors. Specially in second set. English pair lead with 10-0 cause of Korean unforced errors. Then the British do the same so the Korean can made a comeback to 9-10. But the English can hold their nerve and won the game. Good job! :)

WS : Very interesting match with ZN and XXF all out. They show all the skill they have and show their class as rank 1 and 2 in the world. At the end ZN had more energy and tough enough to grab the title. So officially for ZN : 9 tournaments : 6 titles and 3 runner up.

MS : What’s wrong with BCL??? :crying: He had all the weapon to won over CH. Over and over again he showed his deadly smash and drop shot to gain points. But he made lots and lots of easy errors. So he had to wait another time for his second title.

For BCL don’t give up. The good example for all this is Zhang Ning. She had to wait very long for her second titles. But when she got it at 27 years of age, she never look back and keep winning.

WD : So boring match…yawn…. Its officially now, GL/HS are the pairs with most of consecutive runner up. 6 runner up in a row now. :crying:

MD : Match of the day. I can’t even breathe watching these two pairs traded smashes and good defenses. So stunning. Chandra/Sigit won in 3 very tight matches.:D Who said old people can play good badminton? Both pairs are 30 or over 30 now. But the quick movement and the jumping smashes are awesome!

And with Cai/Fu they are the most consistent pairs in MD this year. I can’t wait till next year when these three pairs will meet again in Thomas Cup 2005.

my heart nearly exploded near the end when sigit/candra were diving all over the place...incredible play from them. Hats off to Ericksen/Lungaard, they played very well but Indos are just too good.

This is the match of the tournament!

They lost the final of the Chinese National Games to Gao Ling/Wei Yili.
In fact, Guangdong team (they were from GD) didn't win a single gold medal at the Chinese National Games last mth...quite a shock considering that they have the world and olympic champion competing as a pair and not split as most other Chinese pairs.

From what I've seen, Fu/Cai are not consistentl. They play great and are unbeatable in one tourney and then in another they stink and make a lot of unforced errors.

Regardless, they are very athletic and fun to watch. :D

Both Chen Hong and Zhang Ning are amazing. During China national games last month, Xie Xingfnag lost in early rounds at individual event, but unbeatable at team competition. Zhang Ning was totally transparent during that 2 weeks games, didn't look like any better than mediocre. Was that the same Zhang Ning at Hongkong open and China open?

We also saw another Chen Hong at China open, he just lost to Lin Dan, Chen Jin and Bao CL twice in the past month, and had a life time head2head 1:7 against Gade, Now he defeats them all. He must have found his nuclear weapons. He must have escaped from the US massive destruction weapons investigation. :)

Why so many people like doubles?

I found doubles are very boring. Some argue it's quick. Of course, it's quicker than singles, if you put 4 players on each side, it would be much quicker than doubles.

The basic unit to protect your territory is a person. Like tennis, pingpong, unlike volleyball, you don't need 2nd guy to launch an attack either. When I'm playing double (sometime have to), I always think the other guy on my side as a hindrance instead of a partner. I am chasing every balls at every corner, several partners have been severely injured by my smash.

I think doubles' only functionality is to provide models to those second class players. Such as Cai Yun/Fu, Sang Yang,..., they were all single players, but not good enough, then had to switch to doubles to grab those tarnished models.

lol several partners injured severely by your smash? You should clearly work on your teamwork instead of your bashing of doubles.

Now I understand why your home location is in the baseline. You are really smart... ;) :D
