Lin Dan's choice, badminton superstar, Xie Xingfang, is truly irresistable. Tall, pretty, slim and silky-looking, do not let these seemingly weak attributes deceive you for XXF has been more than a match for the world's best women badminton players.

During the Hong Kong Open, Yao Jie and Wang Chen, both highly ranked players, were of no match for XXF during the QF and SF respectively. Only Olympic Champion, Zhang Ning, was able to subdue her in the final in three games. But Zhang herself has also tasted defeat under the XXF spell on other occasions. Funnily enough, someone told me that whenever Lin Dan wins, XXF loses and vice-versa, except on one occasion which I can't recollect.

XXF's long limbs made it look very easy for her to cover the entire court in leisurely style. And she could also extend her arms to strike the shuttle sideways from the baseline without having to get behind the bird. Her long limbs also help her to get to the shuttle quicker and also to execute round-the-head strokes rather easily. And she also packs a decent smash!

Therefore, apart from Zhang Ning, she is a delight to watch. Naturally, I had my camera trained on her during the HKO and the following selection will give you some idea of what I've been talking about:

Yeah, XXF is a pretty girl..

I'm puzzled by her looks though. She doesn't look like a full-blooded Chinese. And when they interviewed her after she won the WC, she spoke Cantonese(I think), instead of Mandarin. I thought most Chinese in China spoke Mandarin?

Well.. forgive my ignorance, someone enlighten me please.

Yeah. Thx for pointing it out, ying ying!! your name is cute^_^
Thanks for the pic sharing , Mr. Luh. As you guys discussed, XXF is defnitely a very special one in the baddy team of China. Silky look, but not weak though. I tried to 'step over' to ask for taking a pic with us when i watched her game in WC on August, she is very nice and easy going.:p Like a girl from my neighbourhood. Hey, not only attractive to guys, but also girls as well =):
Not like GLing, very arrogant and not know how to treat her fans.... Excuse my words here, GL's fans^^.
Yeah, wanna share with you guys for another nice girl, Yang Wei. Very smart 2^_^
Too bad, XXF lost this time, but i think she would have a very bright future in terms of her 'body' + more experience + our support!! :D

thanks for ur pic, Loh...i love it!!

as my camera is not very professional one, & my skill is :( , almost all xxf pictures i took in the hkopen r very blur...(blamed by my frd which is super XXF fan for almost 2 weeks, she is still blaming me now:crying: )

XXF is a very nice gal..we ask her for autographs after hkopen SF & final..
she is very polite & friendly..we bless her to hv happy life with lindan, her smile is sooooooooooooooo sweet:D we all attracted by her even we r all gals...
after the final, she was still so nice though she lost to ZN..we were not happy becoz she lost, she even comforted us not to be so sad..wot a charming gal!

i think she is really too tired after such a long season(actually u can see all chinese players are very tired in china open), hope all of them can get more rest & return in gd form later....

i am sad becoz she lost to ZN again today..but nevermind..i will support her forever!!

I'm glad that you all share my opinion that XXF is someone special and you like her pictures.

During the finals, after her loss to Zhang Ning, and when the other matches were being played, XXF looked rather relaxed and she must be especially popular with the VIPs for she was invited time and again to sit with them to watch the remaining matches. She was rather obliging and this pleased the VIPs immensely (I'm not too sure how Lin Dan felt at that time though?). But as someone has said, she hails from Canton and her fluency in Cantonese must have made communications with the Hong Kong VIPs and badminton fans so much joy and fun. Her diplomacy will certainly add to her popularity and bring her a notch higher in the social circles!

Coming back to the pictures, XXF's composure, stability and balance are evident. Her eyes are always glued to the bird, even in service. Her court coverage is better than most - her long limbs made footwork much easier. And in a game like badminton, getting to the shuttle quicker and faster is an immeasurable asset for then one is provided with more options to decide the winning shot!

Even for XXF, she goes into a routine of cooling down stretches afer her game. How many of us habitually do this, I wonder? :D

I think comparing Carola Bott to XXF is the same as compaing R&B music to country music. I myself perfer country music. :)

Agree ... and even over time, one's initial opinion of the same person may change. So there may be other more important intangible values that could sustain attraction and traverse mere beauty. :)

Yes, just barely! A last minute hitch with United Airlines (through Chan Bros Travel) enabled me to change to JetStar at a lower fare, albeit a day later than scheduled. I thought I'll never be able to see Hong Kong this soon and to meet some BC friends, including taneepak, with whom we've had a morning badminton session and lunch thereafter.

Although with only two days left to spare after the last three days of HKO, I managed to see more of HK this time by train, bus, car, boat and especially my two legs. :D

So are you planned for the SEA Games in Manila?

I can't say I find any badminton player irresistable. I think Miyuki Maeda looks cute though! And Zhang Jiewen is like my older sister. :D
