Good work by you taking the responsibility. It reminded me of CLELY (not comparing), just a sudden thought and felt sad. She was a gem, always kind to others and like an elder sister to all of us. RIP CLELY.
She is a gem. No way , I could be even near to her in opening threads. I am just a small ant in comparison. You know my time very well. I have time only on mondays usually as my Tuesdays are off. So , I want to give my small contribution to this forum by opening simple Tournament threads. For me, without threads, I felt little bit ackward after getting used to her very eloquent and detailed thread openers from @CLELY. Atleast , I want to give my contribution just by opening a simple thread.
i expect marin to withdraw due to all-england victory. if it moves her into the top 4 her potential points from this swiss open may be insignificant.
Expected Sen's withdrawal too.. And others in MS... but only one withdrawal due to Olympic qualification.. Sen's qualification(64000 points) confirmed?. CTC vs LCY? WHY & LGZ should not spoil other countries 2nd entry chance!! Younger popov qualified. For Elder any possibility in MS? Olympic Qualification Thread can be opened separately !
Both of them should be in Top 8 to get 2 places otherwise only one with their current points and also France will get one place irrespective of their players' positions as Host nation
I, as well, was expecting Sen’s withdrawal here. But with his withdrawals here and the next week, there is a mathematical possibility that LKY, LCY & CTC can overtake him, if they all have make SF-F in these 2 weeks. Followed by that, at the final stop at badminton Asia championship, if Sen falters at r1, and if WHY & NTY make it to finals, they both can push him out of top 16. Considering these rarest of possibilities, I’m sure he would have decided to play this week. With a possible LZJ match up at QF, I’m sure it is not at all easy to gain more points this week. Would he then play next week too?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Surprisingly decent lineup. Was expecting extremely weak considering it's the 4th tournament in 4 weeks and how many seemed to be injured during the All England.
I feel China should let their second line to join since most of lost in early rounds of All England such as Li Shifeng, Lu Guangzu, Wang Zhiyi, Han Yue, Zhang Yiman,
Was looking at the Qualification rounds and saw that USA's (and also San Francisco Bay Area's) Lauren Lam qualified in women's singles to the main draw, winning her match 21-0, 21-13! Never have I seen a 21-0 scoreline in a pro match before!
Is that a lot of withdrawals in each event? Are a number of them now not possibly in consideration for the Olympics ?
They rather focus on preparation for Badminton Asia Championship as well as Thomas Cup and Uber Cup to be held in China. Especially since their players have multiple injuries.
For Singles, both players of the same country must be in Top 16 ranking to qualify. For Doubles, both pairs of the same country must be in Top 8 ranking to qualify. Based on ranking list of 30 Apr 2024. Only players / pairs in Top 16 (for singles) and Top 4 (for doubles) to be seeded. Based on ranking list of 9 July 2024. As the host nation of the Olympics, France can have 1 MS entry and 1 WS entry if no one in France qualifies, in each of these categories, based on the ranking list of 30 Apr 2024. https://extranet.bwf.sport/docs/document-system/81/1466/1471/Section 5.4.1.1 - OG - Olympic Games Paris 2024 qualifying system - Badminton - English v2.0.pdf
