I'm talking about his front court game tbh. hendra is definitely a better backcourt player than fajar back in his hey days, hendra was a pretty hard hitter back then
It's done! Wohooo!!! 2 titles at the All England 2024!!! Gotta feel for Soh, he's definitely underperformed tonight.
2nd AE title for fajar/rian. they totally outplayed aaron/soh Hopefully they can gain some momentum back going into the olympics. I still believe in them. I still think when they're at their peak they're the best pair in the world
Another loss for AaronSoh in the Final. For a moment at 16-12 when Rian made another cheap service error, they are gonna blow it too.
7 titles in the last 11 years go to Indonesia. We're not even that good in Indonesia Open. Despite the downtrend of our players recently, it's pretty refreshing to see we're still dominant in All England Men's Doubles.
Ahsan/hendra started this trend in 2014. I remember we failed to win AE for like 11 years up until that point
Aaron and Soh record so far only 1 title after world cup win. So no need to expect too much from them. They are 1 better than lky tho. Coz lky haven't won any after his WC.
Even the great Cai/Fu only had 2 titles and couldn't win it back to back. Only 6 titles overall for China MD since 1980. Let's hope we can pick up from here till Olympic. Oma Gill regards LKY and Ginting as the fastest players on court atm, so yeah, weird seeing how both are lacking titles. Too unstable.
I still can't believe that Indonesia was able to win 2 titles in AE. Especially for JC, no one thought he would win the title in Birmingham with his recent poor form. He is able to capitalize on his defensive strengths and of course his stamina. And it's a relief to see Fajar/Rian slowly finding their confidence. Sleep well tonight.
Christie is so lucky SYQ was sick, Vitisarn and Sen was tired from the previous week in France and his quarterfinal against LZJ. Also all the top 4 WS are injured? This is getting cray.
sorry, but very strongly disagree that rules who is deciding one point influences prize money amount (and my post actually was not about that), it is everything about good marketing and commercial rights, and yes rules about game flow could make one sport interesting or not to wide audiences, and actually TV networks had a choice between badminton and tennis in early times and badminton rule about getting point only when you have service made badminton score to change slowly thus TV networks chose tennis and it became one of the most commercialized sports (except football/soccer and some others), and if badminton would turn the same money as tennis there would be cons and pros in that as well, like always
LZJ won three line call challenges in one set even in deciding phase as well, so wrong 3 line calls in one set - it is 6 points difference actually...
I overslept and didn’t watch the md final gosh… congrats Fajar Rian,,, a great way to find momentum and confidence back but in a way the are a bit lucky as well to not play vs The Top Best Players from India/Korea/China’s top MD this year… the super real battle is when they play them. also this remind me of their failure vs Ahsan Setiawan back in 2022 WC SF,,, I’m still upset about their performance… Had they won vs the daddies in the SF, they had a good chance for WC2022 gold
Sooo fingers crossed FajRi won’t have to play Chirag/Satwik or Kang/Seo or Wang/Liang in Olympics 2024!
Oh and btw does anyone know how can we see the current olympic points accumulation? I tried google it and can’t find any on websites… thanks
You don’t think prize money affects the rules regarding challenges? On what planet? If you’re dealing with more money there has to be more safeguards. Badminton generally pay a living wage from winnings, so it gets away with more. One grand slam tennis win could be a career or more of badminton. Esp considering the speed of some of the things in badminton, there is no way it will improve. No one would stand for it. And all he did was ask for the referee. He didn’t insult the umpire. Undue delay? Yellow card maybe, but you’d have a tough time with that afterwards justifying it especially if a review afterward showed them to be wrong and the player was right to question the call. Something touched the net and the shuttle did not cross the plan of the net. Even if part of a feather crossed, the cork nor the entirety of the shuttle crossed. Regardless of game outcome. He wasn’t wrong. That is the point. Rules aside, he wasn’t wrong. If he wasn’t wrong and the call stood badminton has a credibility problem. And sponsorships and other things can’t increase. It’s too much of liability.
