I think he will play in S/J League Japan Championship, no? Then we, Japanese badminton fans will have to hope that someone like kurako can keep us updated whether there is any links to watch live out post live. Well be interesting to also watch Obayashi. So far, for Japanese players, Naraoka and Watanabe Koki can make Viktor go full stretch 3 games. But if Momota starts getting motivated again then I'll not be surprised that if body conditions is ok, Momota can again give troubles to Viktor.
Momota will definitely feature in the All-Japan Championships (December 25-30). He has also been entered for the Malaysia Open, where he is currently placed 2nd on the reserve list, and the India Open (here, he is 4th on the reserve list). Incidentally, the Indonesia Masters is not sponsored by the NBA, and all Japanese players featuring in this tournament will be participating as independently-financed players. Here again, Momota's name is on the list.
More likely to depend upon any players ranked above him on the entry list for Malaysian Open withdrawing.
No. The All Japan Championships (AJC) have absolutely nothing to do with the World Tour. That having been said, players' performance at the AJC is an important factor in determining wither they will retain their place on the national team, or not.
Would really like to see him play Malaysia and India but R2 and R4 is still so historically improbable for S1000 and S750, especially this close to Paris 2024.
Very sad to see that Momota couldn't cope with the post accident challenges. I hope he somehow makes it into Paris Olympics, and retires afterwards.
Momota's post-match interview with English subtitles. His back injury flared up again starting in the QF; hence, there was almost no smashes from him compared to the first two days.
In his victory interview after the AJC Finals, Momota reflected that, although his bid for a spot at the Paris Olympic is looking extremely difficult, not appearing will not signify the end of his badminton career. For as long as he is able to, he intends to continue playing in all tournaments that he is entered for. In short, retirement is not on the cards quite yet.
Far more important is a person’s physical and mental health. If he’s back to competition enjoying badminton, that great to see. A healthy athlete and no Olympics is far better than an unhealthy athlete at the Olympics.
he was no.2 on the waitlist for malaysian masters but this tournament only had one player that withdrew so he didnt make it
what about India Open? I see Takuma Obayashi? Where did this guy come from? Momota beat him in All Japan right??
