I feel if he can beat Loh, he can still beat anybody (even if loses in following rounds). He has been playing continuously since last week. Played two matches yesterday and one tough one against Loh today.
Gemke is lightning quick, he was able to outplay Momota because of Kento’s heavier racket. To be put it plainly, I find it unlikely that Gemke is looking foreward to the encounter, although he will surely give it his all!
How many rackets Momota carries to the tournaments? If he carried a heavier racket against Gemke for the last encounter, he should carefully select a racket that can play effectively against Gemke. He and his technical team should study and analyze each of his opponents and then select the appropriate racket in his arsenal of rackets to successfully defeat them. This would for sure even make him the potential winner of the coming Olympics.
I don't think it will be an issue considering that was out of form Momota, when playing against LKY yesterday it seemed like he had another level to go. He might be trying to avoid injury but now is the real test of stamina - I won't discount Gemke though because he has been playing well recently. LKY was tougher than Gemke at his best IMO.
He chose the wrong period to try make a comeback unless he didn't have a choice. If only he wasn't as tired. But he should have won that match on the second game itself damn it. He is playing so well - shot quality is back, lift quality is back, stamina is somehow back and his reflexes seems to be back as well.
Whatever happened on that net kill from Gemke late in the 3rd game rattled him. Can someone elaborate on that? I could only view from my phone, tucked away behind my keyboard as i'm at work lol.
Gemke said it was good. Momota gestured to umpire beforehand. Gemke probably thought KM influenced umpire on some level, thus he complains to KM about it.
Well that net shot was limit - could have gone either way. You have to deal with these sometimes. Momota won his match. Can't believe it but he did.
If he has the right racket against each of his future opponents, he will win every game, right? Then, where is the problem to qualify for the next Olympics? But, is whatever racket he is using is really the problem(s)?
