Oh man, i hope he recovers in time to do well in All England but then he’s playing kunlavut in round 1, at least its not VA or SYQ again
I wonder if momota or even SYQ will go all out in germany considering All England will be the priority
MOMOTA played so much relaxed and with confidence. Pace, quality of shots and defence all were on point in this match. Sent from my CPH2381 using Tapatalk
Actually could absorb some good angles from SYQ and turn defence into attack, absorbing SYQ’s attempts to push him laterally to the left and right well; his footwork, balance and pace is improving. Still too early to say for sure, but this German Open is 5 days from All England so SYQ might’ve been pretty chill about it. There was one rally where Momota managed crisp cross hairpins twice iirc. His confidence is starting to return and he is cheering himself on. Also, two coaches on his side now.
Honestly, before this point I struggle to remember the last time Momota has successfully attempted one, much less won a point off it. You generally don’t play a cross hairpin with your opponent looming over the net or standing anywhere close, unless you are confident.
He has got Sato Shoji, the head coach of his corporate team, NTT-East, with him. This tends to work much better than the Momota-Nakanishi combination.
Good to see him scream, holding his fist, celebrating the points he won. I think these little things are important for him to regain his confidence.
Well played by Momota. SYQ being Momota’s kryptonite is referring to the fact that WHEN Momota was unbeatable in the field, SYQ was one of the few persons that were not only able to beat him but also completely dominate him in some games. BTW it seems like Momota using Astrox 77 pro while beating SYQ.
Really? This is something I mentioned years ago. So has there been a change to his contract or something? I remembee there was some kind of change once like he became more of a national player and less connected with NTT East?
