LJZ wasn't himself today and made a lot of mistakes coupled with 2 service faults.

    SYQ won by experience.

The rallies were short. If they were longer, SYQ may be exhausted towards the end.

Well, that was an accurate prediction :D

Anyways, this type of form is why SYQ was one of the few players that could challenge Momota during his prime. Granted, even in Momota's prime, I would favor Momota over SYQ. But SYQ and Ginting were one of the few players that even had a chance against prime Momota.

I also think SQY benefited by being on the Chinese National Team and training with LD at the tail end of LD's prime (2016) and also being able to train with Chen Long up to the Olympics last year. Remember, Chen Long was the silver medalist at the Olympics last year so Chen Long was probably still at the tail end of his prime too. It's that level of training partners that allowed SYQ to learn what was needed to challenge Momota during Momota's prime.

LZJ was not superior in term of accuracy, he made too much unforced errors. Really needs to work on pacing and placement.

Thank you. I didn't even exist that year :p

And SYQ also replied in English. This new generation keeps getting better!!

Sorry but it is the first time the swollen head LZJ faced a decent SYQ. Once SYQ reaches back to his former level only the new Axelsen will be able to challenge him.

To be fair, aged LD was essentially KM with more experience but less physicality. Definitely helps with training SYQ's technical games.

I wonder if the forced suspension time finally allowed him the time and flexibility to recover fully from the injury?

And let's not forget how grueling sparring with (even post prime) Chen Long must have been

Just when I thought it's going to be a no-suspense victory for Lee Zii Jia before the match commences, instead what I've just witnessed is a stunning, triumphant display of free-flowing, beautiful attacking badminton by Shi Yuqi to eventually emerge champion.

This is indeed a very significant achievement for the come-back athlete - can we safely and positively say , Shi Yuqi is back ? YES !

I went back to look at BWF channel for this interview and it cut off before the interview. Not good for the game and not good for marketing the game.

For an international perspective, the game has to have personalities that appeal to the world. Axelson has taken the initiative to learn Chinese - a superb effort.

Malaysians speak Bahasa, English and some of them Mandarin.

Has Viktor’s efforts to learn Chinese rubbed off on Chinese players making them believe they can learn English?

Im not gona say too much cause I dont wanna do the J word but Im very happy with his performance

This tittle will surely give him huge boost and the way he played..I saw the flashback of the shi I saw against Momota in 2018 WTF actually much agressive and greater flow on court...I loved it !!

In my previous post before the Finals I had predicted LZJ to lift the tittle but sadly God had other plans though I think He or Viktor will surely lift the French Open for sure :p Sorry LZJ Fans but dont worry French Open is all his' :p

That was great effort from SYQ to speak English at post match interview. He said patience won the match.

Great to see SYQ came back to top badminton. But your assertion that wiki knew the result before is complete nonsense and fake news.
