thats why the standard of competition is so poor. Cant remember when the last time i watch XD match.

Dont even know if XD is good for badminton or not. Male players will be male while there arent as many female players and the best female will likely play WS anyway or at worst WD so you are left with the best of the worst, remember HYQ in WD. She isnt even half of what ZYL is imo.

Will AA meet another JPN player if he wins today? So many JPN players in his path.

AA has the same hairstyle as Man City's new signing Haaland.

Yeah just like I doubt Minions would win more than 10 SS had they play in FHF/CY, LYD/JJS, Hendra/Kido, KKK/TBH era. you talk about weakness yet look how Endo/Yuta frustate Minions to death when they played against each other, that's why the h2h is so one sided despite this supposedly to be the "Minions era"

no pair is perfect though. JJSLYD also lost to many pairs , a lot of times though. I doubt they have many 10-1s or 10-2s H2H like Minions did. Thats why the competition is good (That EndoW can beat Minions) and they still won close to 30 SS.

other than that, i definitely wont put the pairs of the same eras in top 3, otherwise there are just too much bias in it.

I just find it funny how you talk about weakness when it comes to Zheng/Huang and doesn't want to mention Minions weakness who in my opinion are even bigger than Zheng/Huang's, that's why they consistently underperformed in big event. I would bet my money that Zheng/Huang would win more in ZN/ZYL era than minions in Cai/FU or LYD/YYS era.

i find it funny you cant admit that Minions are top 3 in this century despite their dominance , WR1s, total number of titles just because you live in the past. You just put a blind eye to suit your needs despite how competitve, upsets and the overall landscape of MD. And the one you put above have far less titles too. Otherwise why not rank them 1-5 and tell the reasons why they are at that ranks.

I can't put them in top 3 because they kept failing short at WC/OG, how can you be the 3rd best oat if you can't even get a medal in WC/OG ? beside number of titles I judge a career based on how they perform in big event. I wouldn't put LCW in my top 5 let alone my top 3 if he can't get a medal or being close to gold so many times despite his dominance back then.

On the contrary, I think XD attracts the best female players. Not only the female player must be able to defend opponent's strong smash, she must be quick to attack. Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Popor) is a great prototype XD player. She actually left her old WD partner Puttita Supajirakul (they just got bronze in WC 2022) to concentrate on XD.

I agree that there is strong emphasis on female player's defense on XD. Otherwise, the match will be one-sided. HYQ, Arisa Higashino. and Liliyana Natsir have had numerous gold medals because they could also attack from the front court.

Totally agree. We see it much less but for mixed doubles, the girl definitely has to have to be comfortable at the back court, great defense, ability with back and forwards movement as well as being able to control the net.

If a girl player has poor technique in certain areas of their game, they definitely can’t survive for long with mixed doubles against the top five in the world.

Unless they got a Superman partner like ZSW, with pre-injury ZSW, Yaqiong seldom needs to play at the backcourt. Another example would be Melati, her backcourt play is mediocre, defense is not great, but could get away with Jordan’s ability to control the game from the back.

but I agree, in most cases it’s the girl who determines the ceiling of the pair.
