Recently got my racket restrung and it seems like the grommets are not flush to the frame, is this normal? Should I get it restrung? Image is shown below
I've mainly seen that with new grommets that don't fit tightly within the frame hole. Never seen any problems with it personally but maybe others have. IMO as long as the grommet is still protecting the string from the frame (the head didn't split off the shaft or anything) it's doing it's job. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk
This seems to happen when the grommets are new and not the exact right size. Then they are pulled out of the frame a little. This will not hurt the outside of the racket, but might not protect the inside edge anymore, as they shifted. Can you provide a picture of the inside (string bed side)? It can be put right only during tensioning and holding it in place. Or making it shorter on the inside before tensioning.
Looks fine to me. If they cut the inside super short then when the grommet pulled out the string could touch the inside frame hole. In this case there is still plenty of grommet on the inside. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk
Yep, looks safe for now. Don't worry too much. I would guess the grommets are a bit too long, it didn't help keeping them in place.
Happens when the grommet is too loose. Fine if the string still sits on the grommet of the internal frame.
1 is something that can happen, but 4 (or is it 5 ?) in a row makes it look like the guy doesn't even care I'd be ashamed to make someone pay for this, and it's exactly the kind of crap that made me buy a machine ! That being said, i agree it doesn't look like it would be harmful to the racket or the string (only to our eyes )
I've had some succes flattening them with my starting clamp*. Just have to be careful not to slip and scratch a frame. *tools used only for their intended purpose and all that. Sent from my SM-A315G using Tapatalk
I've also managed to push them back down sometimes, using the handle end of a starting clamp/pliers. If the grommet is only slightly protruding, it usually goes back in with some careful pressure. Seeing 4-5 in a row like that is pretty careless though!
