You are right Gayatri/Treesa came 2nd in trials but they did beat Tanisha/Rutaparna at the trials. Tanisha/Rutuparna didn't qualify for this tournament and haven't played too many matches.
Tanisha and Rutuparna were not as successful after Uber Cup and now have split up. Rutuparna plays women's doubles with her sister Shwetparna and Tanisha just played mixed doubles.

Are you watching on Voot? I find voot's UI so outdated and the live stream keeps having hiccups here and there. Hotstar was so much more intuitive imho. Already missing watching badminton on hotstar.

Voot stream quality was awesome when I watched German Open semis and finals live. But the problem started (those pauses, hiccups) in AE streams. They should fix it asap. Hotstar never had this problem but Star won't care about our feelings $$

Treesa Jolly and Tanisha Crasto are the 2 best jump smashers among Indian girls. It's unfortunate that Tanisha is now stranded without a good WD partner. If Treesa/Tanisha became a WD pair it might be a lethal combination as Tanisha is good at front and back court. But this combination would not happen since it would leave Gayatri stranded without a formidable back court player.
Yep I would also rate Tanisha higher she is more aggressive, Gayatri is more crafty but lot of room for improvement.
India is laughably subpar considering that it plays a grand total of 3 sports majorly- cricket , badminton and hockey.. Pathetic mindset of people, corruption and incompetence of the association is to blame, Rn there are 0 competent WD, 0 XD, 0 WS(except sindhu but she anyways never wins Tour titles and is 27 already), 1 good MS(Lakshya , others are old + not playing well enough to be 2nd best MS-Kidambi 30 and choking) , 1 good MD. The team urgently needs 2 good WD, 1 more good young MS, 1 more MD with top level competency , and atleast 2 good XD .
