Someting wrong with Lee Chong Wei. His record for the title "longest number 1 on the rank table" will be remember more than just 1 WC or even Olympic.

After 100 years, there are a lot of World Champion and Olympic Champion, I'm not sure that descendants can remember all of them. In my experience, I cannot remember or even care about the list of All England champion from 1900 until now.

I even cannot write the name of the guy who won Olympic Syney 2000, and 1996, 1992.

But, people can remember Lee Chong Wei's record.

Definitely its easier to remember he has 50 titles than 1 title. I would say thats because of consistency of winning.

no one probably remember the bronze medallist of WC last edition let alone 1900, i was surprised that Antonsen already won silver WC before. If i didnt watch the ceremony i prolly think he just won Bronze.

so therefore you need to keep winning to have your achievemenrs remembered.

How would you rank the younger MS players like Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand), Li Shifeng (China), Lakshya Sen (India), Brian Yang (Canada), Christo Popov (France), Kodai Naraoka (Japan), etc?

All are in the age group of 19-21.

I would say Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Lakshya Sen top these group of youngsters, then Li shifeng, Christo Popov , Kodai Naraoka and Brian Yang in that order.

I remember all the WC / OLY Medalists and to help you remember the names of the legends who won the Olympics Games of the years you mentioned

    OLYMPIC 2000 MS

    Legend Sir XI JINPENG G
Legend Sir HENDRAWAN S (WC G)
    Legend Sir XIA XUANZAE B ( WC G )

You can find my post of Legend Sir Xia Xuanzae on my LEGEND'S CORNER thread

    OLYMPIC 1996 MS
Legend SIR POUL ERIK HOYER G (WC 3 B)
    SIR DONG JIONG S ( WC B )
    Sir Rahsid Sidek B

    OLYMPIC 1992 MS

If LKY wasnt handicapped by injury maybe the SF and F wins had been more convincing

If at all fans of Loh think that he will win every other player in single digits, then I must say they are wrong. Srikanth had a long gruelling match against his compatriot in the semis.
If a wheel chair bound player , all of a sudden got so much energy in the finals ,to move fast as Ginting and jump as powerful as praveen Jordan , what injury he had?.
And also, if fans of him think that he will win every player with single digits, I have to say, wait for next year. We will be able to see how he will keep the name he attained as World champion .

No way can LKY win most games in single digit. That's a wild dream.
It is only natural he will lose some matches going forward. Even the good players, like VA and Momota, will lose sometimes. It will depend on how well LKY trains to be more consistent before he can win matches. It will also depend on his physical and mental condition.

He did relatively well against SK in spite of his injury. Please remember SK is more experienced and has been a WR1 before. You can't be a WR1 without any basis. I think LKY learned a good lesson from SK.
As some have said, his game will be well scrutinized from henceforth and it makes it more difficult for him to win matches, let alone winning games in single digit.

An extract from a Straits Times report:

"My support team also deserves support," Loh told The Straits Times matter of factly. "Behind the scenes, my coach has been helping me with the strategies and admin work, and after the semi-final, when I couldn't walk, the physio worked on my foot from 10.30pm to 1.30am just so I could walk the next day."

From the above quote from LKY, it would seem very lucky for him to be able to play the next day against SK. It had taken 3 hours by his physio to mend his ankle injury. I suspect, being young and wanting to be the World Champion, greatly helped in LKY's speedy recovery. Other lesser mortals would probably succumb.

And LKY has shown great compassion and gratefulness by requesting SBA to similarly accord business class air tickets to both his coach and his physio to fly home.

Neither do I have intrest nor time to waste on these Sub standard tournaments like All Timbuktu,All Wakanda,All Unicorn types.

And definitely don't care whoever wins or loses.

The very reason Im here on this thread is because its the Prestegious World Championships, the biggest event along with the Glorious Olympics of My Beloved Sport Badminton cause Usually I dont even participate and waste my time for all the futile tournaments anyways.

See you at the BIGGEST TOURNAMENT OF 2022 in Tokyo.

    when life give u lemon....

u have to expect player's achievement based on their potential. For me:

tier 1: marin, tai, chen y
tier 2: aka, no, pv, an
    tier 3: he
rat is somewhere between tier 2 and tier 3. U may call her 1 hit wonder, career end in the age of 19 or something like that. But she's not choking. Great skill but lack of stamina, we can't expect more from her. She's already had a nice career

tai's last 4 major she lost to 4 different players. It's ok to lose to chen y, but those other one choke and choke

in the term of "more ppl remember". I think it's a very bad goal if anyone want that. It's like a fan service, like someone just want to be famous. The goal should always be the best of all time and if you can't reach that, at least push yourself to the limit.

Yeah. This wc is as big as world cup football. I bet the minister of finance or sba will be sweating on how much to reward him. Hope not saying we will let u be a Sg coach when you retire and thank you. Business as usual. lol.

There is already a petition to pressure the gov to pay up handsomely. My standard will be as good as, or near Olympic gold. Am sure the Singaporean here also got the forwarded message? Correct?

Now the controversy is he is gg back to train with viktor. So this means something wrong with the local infrastructure or coaching set up?? This will set precedence to other aspiring national players. Meaning, they would also want to get the chance to train at VIKTOR ACADEMY. SBA is not good enough and giving them the best. Or a chance.

Also, shd he go pro? so that he can earn more. Does he deserves more cut from tournament money??

A lot of thinking from those guys at the top. ;)

I've heard that Viktor sent 60 letters to invite players come to Dubai.

I was curious to know all names on the list
