Thanks for your quick and insightful response! Yes i agree on investing in shoes, theyre something i dont mind splurging on , given that i recently sprained my ankle also. Currently using the Yonex shb03x which is also a top-end (back then at least). It's about a year old but still functional as i dont play that often, maybe 1-2 times a week, but the latest sprain is making me feel uneasy as this pair was like half a size up to my true to size... Will most likely be giving the p9500s a try as you suggested, thanks a lot!
Glad you found it useful. You could also get some ankle braces to prevent further injuries. Ankle injures are the worse. I also never bought into the "bootie/sock" shoe that Yonex pushed out. There didn't seem to be any ankle support for those shoes.
Yes ive also been wearing a brace for the since the sprain, but dont really wanna keep them on forever since my ligaments will never be 're-trained', hope to play without one soon. The yonex shb03z with the inner bootie served me well over the past year, but as you said the bootie thing is meant for comfort not support. Ive never had ankle injuries in the past. I also dont have any experience with other shoes to compare with as ive stopped playing for like 5 years before returning, i just jumped the gun with this pair without trying out others when i bought them, thinking well at least its a high end pair it must be totally fine. Im actually looking to try several out before committing this time, what i have in mind are: p9500 as discussed, this is the prime candidate yonex 88 dial (it looks like the ankle part is a bit higher cut which might feel good, altho advertised as all-around shoe rather than support), eclipson z (just to feel the latest inner bootie thing really), 65z2 (looks like the yonex go-to these days) comfort z2 (ugly as hell but lets see how it feels) maybe other victor p-series (9200, 9300) but i dont think think the v-shape will fit me maybe some top models from li-ning, mizuno, asics, but yet to do my research on those
It's best to try shoes if you can. I don't buy into Yonex's "bootie thing". It just looks like a sock that's wrapped around your ankle. I don't think it really does much. Of course, I could be wrong. I prefer the standard shoe without any of the gimmicky stuff. The Yonex 88 dial looks pretty cool. The dial technology is a nice touch. Regardless, best of luck in finding the next shoe that fits!
I have tried both Asics and Mizuno badminton shoes before as I feel they are both specialized in shoes. Currently, using Asics Court Control FF, it is their key model for Badminton. Really like it as it offers good cushioning stability in the forefoot and comfortable. Has good grip also. I tried the Gel-Blade 7 once, good if you like a light shoe for badminton but I am on the heavier side. Tried Mizuno Wang Fang Pro before, it is a good shoe but very expensive and hard to find.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Have read about the court control ff being the only specialised badminton shoes and good things, but a lot of comments are saying its pretty narrow. Im planning to try them out myself. The mizuno wave fang pro looks really good. Just wondering, youve tried them, but what stops you from getting them? Thanks in advance! Yeah Court Control FF. Is slightly narrow, as I have wide feet, I got half a size bigger and it fit fine. Wave Fang pro was not available in Singapore when I wanted to buy. They stopped bringing them in and Online was a lot more expensive.
So if they were available and cost similarly to the court control ff would you have gone for it? Also do you have any experience with yonex/victor shoes to compare with? Thanks again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would. the pro is really good shoes. But didn't mind trying a different shoe. ASICS Court Control FF did just fine for me. Nope never tried Yonex/Victor recently
How about the size of Victor compared to Yonex. I have Aerus 3 in 44 size. Is P9500 similar to Yonex size? I have wide feet too. Thank you in advance!
1st impresion use p9500 with original insole same with yonex size 44. compare my previous 03Z and comfort Z 1st gen. it's my 1st experience use victor shoes, cushioning so hard insole thiner snugg better not comfort stability better (too much) rubber grip same durability don't know upper skin ok my foot feel hurt at ouside near the LSS part, after 1st usage. let se after 3 or 5 times...
I got it already. Size is very similar but maybe litle bit smaller than on Yonex Aerus 3R. Compared to Aerus 3R (R is Replica from Yonex, it does not have all of technology compared to non-R): Cushioning of midsole is great, much better than 3R Cushioning on sides harder but good Insole better than 3R Comfort ok, but not as 3R Quality/durability verry high (I play 4 times a week, and no wear signs) Grip similar to yonex It is nost best looking shoes because of U shape, Yonex is there better.
Personally, I still think that the P9200 or the P9200II respectively were the pinnacle of Victor shoe design. I have tried a number of different shoes since I was using the 9200 and none of them achieved a comparable combination of comfort while still being stable and supportive. The stock insoles were a bit shite though, but once replaced with Spenco Cross Trainers, this was the perfect shoe for me. And as soon as one of my Adidas dies, I'll get myself a pair of P9200II and live happily ever after.
Recently bought 9200II CC, good design and cool looks, incredible comfort and stability. Not the lightest shoes around though.
I went through two pairs of P9200 and two pairs of P9300 and IMO the P9300 was the pinnacle. Sole wise both models really the best in terms of grip, cushion. stable feelinf but inside the toe box of the P9200 the foam came off pretty quickly and the mesh for ventilation on the sides stripped on the right shoe due lunging after a few month. Now I'm on a A922 which gives a more YY-ish feel. Far away from beeing as stable as the P9200/P9300 and the grip is just mediocre.
Tennistown still has some P9300 left and offer them for a sensational price... if only they had given them nicer colors.
I know, I move on to a newer model if the shoe is a few years on the market. The sole harden over time due natural ageing so my next shoe will be a P9500 and I guess you will know for which color I will go.
