The Minions Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo marched to yet another Final (already their 3rd this year, after the conclusion of the two Team Events). No matter what, they still remain as INA's no 1 MD pair. And awaiting them in the Home Final will be a pair they have a 10-0 record - Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. Of course, the Japanese pair is no longer the old pair and they have gained more confidence after winning their first World Tour Super 1000 title in Denmark Open last month! If the Minions can play their normal game, I think another World Tour 750 title in the Daihatsu Indonesian Masters 2021 is not beyond them. This is despite most of the active MD pairs participating (except for the CHN pairs and the Korean pairs Choi Solgyu/Seo Seungjae and Ko Sunghyun/Shin Baekcheol). The Race to Bali for MD is more or less settled. I predict the following 6 pairs to qualify: Minions, Astrup/Rasmussen, Ong/Teo, and Hoki/Kobayashi, and the Popov brothers The last 2 spots will be keenly contestly by Chia/Soh (if they progress to QF next week) and either one of Pram/Yere, Leo/Daniel or Rian/Fajar. Next week's contest in the World Tour Super 1000 event - the Indonesia Open 2021 will be equally interesting with the Minions again favorite to reach at least QF, with an anticipated mouth-watering contest against their main rivals for the World Championship title in QF and SF, respectively: R32 vs Keichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi R16 vs (likely) Choi Solgyu/Kim Wonho QF vs (likely) Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik [5] or Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi SF vs (likely) Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin [3] or Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty [6] Rian/Fajar as well as Leo/Daniel have a favourable draw of meeting fellow compatriots en-route to QF: R32 - match-up between each other R16 vs Fikri/Bagas or Sabar/Reza QF vs either Ivanov/Sozonov [8] or Lu/Yang If any one wins the first round match-up, a route to the SF is surely very open and with that a ticket to the World Tour Finals! Meanwhile, Pram/Yere will be expected to beat Lane/Vendy in R32 and face either Hendra/Ahsan [2] or Hoki/Kobayashi in R16. They will have one foot in the WT Final if they progress to R16 and they will hope that Rian/Fajar or Leo/Daniel do not progress beyond QF next week.
Hello guys. I’m a new guy here but already a silent reader for a while. I usually stay silent but I think I should say something about Kevin and Yeremia situation. Because people are now talking about respect or no respect, attitude, assumptions, bullying (people said that in some other place) and so on. Don’t take it seriously. It’s a somewhat ‘running joke’ between them. Yeremia in two separate IG live said that he indeed provoked Kevin first and they always mock each other (jokingly) during their training. But when he finally did it in a match outside of training (Olympic simulation match), it was because of Hendra, Ahsan and Marcus actually asked him to provoke Kevin so they will be cheeky to each other, to make the match more fun. The clip: After yesterday’s match, Yere was live again on Instagram with his juniors (Pratama players, a level before the Utama or main players). They were amazed and asked him why did he provoked Kevin. Yere said that he thought that no one would notice, but admitted that he indeed provoked Kevin so Kevin would take him seriously. If Kevin isn’t serious, their play/the match wouldn’t be interesting/enjoyable. He said that he wouldn’t mind if he lose, as long as Kevin played seriously. I don’t think that means that Kevin’s juniors don’t respect him. Yere even tried to fired Kevin up so he would go all out against him. That means that they respect him and his talent and want to measure themselves against him. And after the heated match, he said that they get along again and were joking to each other. You can see the glimpse of it in the match, they all smile to each other at the end and even smile at some point during the match too. Clips: You can say that it’s childish for both Kevin (not surprising) and Yeremia to act like that during an international tournament and that’s not a professional behavior. But the main point is, that there are no actual bad blood between them. Also, it explains why Kevin is chill with fellow INA compatriots like The Daddies, FajRi, LeoNiel etc during match. There are no 'habit' . Bonus: Now this is a true rivalry. Yere hopes that in the Indonesia Open, when FajRi and LeoNiel meet, FajRi will win so LeoNiel couldn’t catch up to PraYer’s point for the World Tour Final. Rivalry between LeoNiel-PraYer are on point so far. LeoNiel won their battle for the spot as MD4 for INA’s Thomas Cup team and with that, they also won gold for TC. PraYer looked so disappointed with their lost after the match with LeoNiel (Yere slammed down his racket in frustration) and I think LeoNiel got the TC gold only fire PraYer up more. Let's see. (Sorry for the length and the clips are all in Indonesian)
Yeah Saina has 11. I think if you can reach double digit, you would already has a good career because if you can get 10 titles you'd have some RUs too . Its just that there is big difference in prize money from now to 10 years ago ( before 2014/13). 11-7 in Finals not bad too.
Minions vs HokiKobayashi 10-0 is pretty incredible. Most importantly is most of the wins end up with the title too. I mean 10-0 in Doubles is like 20-0 in Singles. There are more ways you can do in Double than in Singles to upset the rhythm etc. and with any pair from JPN, its always competitive. No matter what , the JPN pair is the younger pair
Yeah 10-0 this is like LCW vs TommySugiarto in Singles but the gulf is never that far between Minions vs HokiKoba no matter its A/B team ( they have been in National team for a while playing since 2017?). Of course if its like 13-2/14-2 between WR1 and WR2 like Momota vs Axelsen, thats even more contrasting. Its just simply that its hard to change playing style in singles. Even the Great LCW has hard times vs LD.
Never won in 7 previous encounters HKG southpaws Tang/Tse defy all ofds to break the jinx and beat nemesis Watanabe/Higashino for the first time in tough battle that lasted in 76 minuted of play, the Japanese duo are on fire at the moment considering their back to back triumphant in European soil but looked quite tired and committed many simple errors yesterday. Another heavyweigt rivals await them to nail XD crown in S750 level none but Thai prominent duo Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai who dispatch Ko SH/Eom HW. Yamaguchi-An SY duel becomes more and more often recently following the absence of several top names such as Tai TY, Chen YF, Marin, Okuhara miss BWF regular tours with various reason who causing this discipline less competitive. In the rematch of Tokyo OG quarterfinal saw Sindhu didn't show her best that she supposed to be rather than disappointment feat, really lopsided match that describe this match to confront two players from different league. Later on, Thai latest talent Chaiwan unables to halt Korean number one An SY rallying type that needs long endurance, agility and superb stamina. If the Japanese leading lady tops podium here, she will be so close to topple Chen YF as world #2. Will the Minions extend their title here? They're clear favorite based on 11-0 stats over Hoki/Kobayashi including their last encounter two years ago in CHN Open 2019. In 2021 version, both pairs have experienced different trajectory, the Japanese combination displaying upward trend post Endo/Watanabe & Kamura/Sonoda retirement with S1000 victory in Odense as true evidence while Gideon/Sukamuljo just starting rejuvenation process to revive uninspiring performance and looking positive in last two tournaments they participated in Paris & Saarbrucken. Still Japan versus Korea in women's doubles discipline but this time the final showcase featured by fresh players, the most stunning result certainly scored by the lesser-known duo 21 years old Jeong Na Eun and 23 years old Kim Hye Jeong who continue their sensational run to shock more favoured teammates Kim SY/Kong HY and will challenge Matsuyama/Shida for title contention. The Japanese pair involved in grueling match to outlast Supajirakul/Taerattanachai, the toughest foes en route into last round. 2019 INA Masters final replay will pit the reigning two time World Champion against European Champion, Momota quelled Chou TC strong fight in opening game that saw the fully confident top-seed handled ctitical points well after world #4 equalized the scoreline when trailed behind 10-14 to 19-19. Then the Japanese was unstoppable in next game as the Taiwanese became awry how to score point as sign of fatigue emerged. Former Champion Antonsen has smooth way to book final spot, thanks to his opponent Srikanth tons of error, inconsistency problem by the Indian once again to keep his good form and momentum in one tournament. Don't see Momota could lose this one unless he performed terribly.
Lost 10 consecutive matches just mean the opponents were better than you in all their skills, tactics. whatever you try, you cannot win. But over time, you will improve your skill, you come to team A and the head coach now spends a lot of time to you. so why not in the 11th matches, you will change result ? I don't care 10 or 100 consecutive loss. People can improve their skill day after day.
Congratulations to An Se Young for valiantly beating Akane in straight games. Very clinical performance from the young Korean. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
