Good game. Korean attack too strong for the Japanese pair
but Fukushima and Higashino fought well. It's close

    Kento Momota retired !.
If i am not wrong, he will lose the points he gained from this Tournament right, since he played his compatriot.?

Seems like his coach assured him that he won't be losing his points, hence he retired

Yama was fantastic. Iron lady. ;)

For momota saga. I think there is a big communication problem with the japanese team.

If I am pjb, I would ask tsu to let momota win easily and let him go for the finals and beat ctc. He got a better chance. If tsune doesn't win, it's embarassing. Li Yong Bo will be laughing at the Japanese. ;) If ctc wins, PJB must be sacked. lol ;) Now if Momota can't play well in WC, it will get worse. ;) Sheer stupidity killing your own comrades. No respect for each other as well. lol ;)

How come his coach did not know it?.

We forumers even know how the rule changed few years back due to some situations repeatedly occured from certain country . As a coach he should be knowing it.

I don't think its nice to ask a player to lose deliberately.
But I do agree that Tsuneyama could do better to ease Momota of his sufferings.

I think if this don't happen today (Momota's back), it'll happen tmr, which also, Momota will lose
    But he gets his points

This happened few years back, when Chinese players met their compatriots , there were walkovers. That was when Li Yongbo was their Head Coach. This was prevented using this rule by which if a player retires or gave walkover to his/her compatriot, then he will lose the points which he/she attained in that particular tournament./

Japanese actors need to teach these japanese players to act. Lindan and his buddies are so good at it. This is really kamikaze. jeeessshhh.... ;)

Damn, there will always be people who spoil the system ...
(Well, not Chinese hater here in case people get sensitive. If it's Taiwanese or Japanese who caused this rule to be imposed, I'll be equally disgusted.)

I hope they investigate and be fair to players who really can't play vs those who just want to game the system.

I really like the jerseys from Ko and Shin, something different from the usual Yonex/LN/Victor patterns and colorways with not too much going on but some distinct design aspects

    Technist, a Korean brand.

But interestingly Shin is using a Yonex bag, shoes and socks while Ko is only using Yonex shoes...

Play with strategy. Whats the ulterior motive? To maximise winning for Japan. So, they need to play and act smartly. Hitting outside or shots to the net. Tsune shd just give it easy to momota, it should be a walk in the park for him. If its an easy game for momota, he will have time to recover for tomorrow final. ;)

I was hoping for another Momota vs Viktor Axelsen finals at the French Open. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for their rematch.

i don't see how momota gets points:

from BWF Statutes, Section 5.3.3.1: WORLD RANKING SYSTEM In Force: 24/11/2020 (https://extranet.bwfbadminton.com/d...1/Section 5.3.3.1 - World Ranking System .pdf)

4.4 In the World Championships, Grade 2 – Levels 2-4 tournaments (french open), and Continental Confederation Individual Championships/Continental Multi Sports Games Individual Championships, if a Player / pair withdraws or retires from a match played against a Player / pair from the same Member they will not receive World Ranking points for that tournament.
