Anyone ever tried a y-joint racket? How are they compared to traditional t joints. Most of the ones I've seen are Prince and I'm very curious about how do these weird looking rackets perform in the court.

I have one, it is called Prince Phoenix Y1500T. I just love it. I string BG 66 at 26Ibs. Every shots are good in terms of saving energy, power and accuracy. But I only use it in single game, as prince racket is very afraid of 'hitting' with other racket in double.

I have both the Prince Phoenix Y 1500 Team and Y 1200 Team.Started off with 1200...liked it so much i decided to try the 1500 version.
The Y-Joint needs some time to get used to and yes you can actually feel the sweet spot is much larger and power is definitely there without much extra effort.

Prince ceased production of these rackets many years ago which was a shame as they were great sellers. In their heyday, Prince had a number of international players using these frames and can claim a couple of All England titles in ladies singles and mixed doubles.

The first models had 16 mains but later increased to 18.

I saw Prince rackets make a comeback last year in my regular shop in SG. Pretty low key though but they've maintained the Y joint.

I have a Prince Axis 64 badminton racket which I am meaning to get restrung at some point, I picked it up for £5 in a car boot sale, it looks brand new and feel it was a bargain! Will report back once I have played with it after the stringing. It looks cool too, like a carbon fibre paintjob.

    Kindest regards,

I just got the blue yellow, one. Wish I could find a 2nd 1.

I tried the original whiplite back in the day with the 26 mains, nice to hit with, but fragile. Lasted only a couple of months before I cracked it, bit I really liked it.

Great idea, so much better that the pro kennex an Carlton teardrop models of a similar era as the whiplite.

Looking fwd to getting my Phoenix strung and trying it
