i don't read it all, just a few first lines. I've never seen it as taiwan and china, it's tai and chen y. It's an invidual sport but it's pity it's always been treated like a team sport
She has a right to be slightly dejected over the silver though. Gold and bronze always celebrate because they won their matches. Looking back, her first half of G3 was the usual TTY mental walk-about that Gill and Morton has always mentioned before. If not for this, would've been better chance of gold. I don't follow her social media so don't know her antics, but is she really a hissy princess?! Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
Now that was a proper rant! Wow! My 3 cents: If she is still disappointed and pissed about winning "only silver", it is her right to be and to express that. I can't blame her. The shoe disaster at Rio was an epic fail. She has my 100% support for rubbing that one under the noses of the morons in charge of negotiating the terms and conditions with Yonex. I couldn't care less if she's nitpicking about business or economy class flights. I wouldn't dare to say anything about upbringing and family values about anyone else that is not my own family. We as outsiders have not the slightest clue about what is going on inside another person's family. In general, it is always a very thin line when athletes are personally exposing themselves and start meddling with the politics side of their sport. We see the same thing with Viktor Axelsen and his repeated beef with the Danish Assosiation and the BWF. What I'm focused on mostly is what a player is doing and how they are behaving on court and towards their competitors. All the other stuff is just background noise which has zero impact on me as a fan. For example, do I care if TTY smiles at the camera biting into a BigMac to promote super unhealthy food or sugar-caffeine-bomb energy drinks? Not at all. Although I find this a lot more troubling than pretty much all of the other things you have ranted about. And do I expect athletes to be perfect people and for them to act to please me as a fan all the time? Of course not. And being nitpicky myself now: She won gold in the 2018 Asian Games. Auto-translation might be blurring many things, but from what I have seen over the past years on FB and Insta, the content has been mostly positive and funny. To give you a glimpse:
I think I would be still hurting if I had a chance at gold and lost. There are some things that I didn’t achieve 30 years ago that still get me mad.
Here are the two conclusions i wound up from your epithet. 1) You think that her conduct in the social sphere(Social media, famous award functions, interaction with news outlet, Political views on social media)sheds low light on the collective effort of TW to achieve 'greatness with harmony'. 2) You think her humility is directly proportional to her results at the Highest Level(Major World Championships or Olympics) i.e. No Medal/ Round of 16/ Not Present/ Third Round/ Silver Medal. Have I captured the essence of the reasons that led to your spiritual outburst?
All these comments on her "femininity" or lack thereof ("look majority like a female") are deeply misogynistic and distasteful, not to mention unnecessary.
I was looking at the world rankings, and notice that her career prize money is higher than both all the other top ranked females and males. I'm unclear why this is the case. Has she won a lot of the most lucrative tournaments?
Have you tried clicking on the "All" there? And behold.... Besides, where else do you think this prize money might have come from?
I'm not suggesting it didn't come from tournaments. But her win/loss doesn't seem much different to a lot of others there, so I was curious which tournaments are contributing most to it.
Is Tai Tzu Ying retiring? I remember reading somewhere that she was going to retire after the Olympics but it seems like she is still playing? Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
The discussion has been going on for years I'm also wondering if this is finally realized or not She is also not participating in Uber Cup....
I think she will retire soon. It's hard for me to imagine anyone beating Chen Yufei at the moment. I also don't think Tai Tzu Ying will be content if she isn't at the top. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
But then again, since she hasn't done it yet, maybe I might be wrong too, perhaps she realised she still wants to play and is just taking a break so she can come back more refreshed later. She's still young anyway,so I'm sure she can come back still and succeed. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
There hasn't been any official statement regarding the future of her carreer as of yet. Everything else are just speculations.
