Damn. What a fight, I hadn't thought TTY could make it this close when she was 3-10 behind....ofc it's sad right now, but no shame for TTY, she fought brilliantly and finally got that elusive WC/OG medal. In that sense, I'm stoked for her, finally a major tournament where nothing big went wrong for her...

    So disappointed from the ending.
TTY was completely different yesterday, so much more command , perhaps the nerves of first major final.
Phenomenal from CYF, not just style of play but the demeanour resembles CL massive respect.

Secretly wondering how his match would play out had PVS made it to the finals, but then one can only wish

Well, she already won Major before in AllEngland and AsianGames, just not meant to be for TTY this time.

Still doesnt change my opinion of this era of WS , Marin > TTY > CYF > Sindhu

CYF takes it. both sides are so nervous. many errors from TTY, pretty much gifted 1/3 the points to CYF. CYF looked tired, I thought she will be caught but she held on it and played consistent shots and let TTY fall apart.

Grats to CYF. TTY lost but she fought well. A silver medal here brought an end of her drought of not winning a medal in the biggest tournament (WC/Oly).

credit to CYF though. must be the only player in the world who can read all of TTY's fancy shots. TTY knows that and suddenly everything that worked doesn't work today. CYF can get back everything from TTY which totally changed the whole dynamics.

CYF totally deserve this Gold Medal

That last rally was a classic big tournament match point if I ever saw one, both afraid of going too close to the lines or the net, pushing each other around and trying to grind the opponent down
At least neither went and fell into LCW's old default of smashing every (possible) lift and trying to play every single shot hard :D

I thought CYF would tire but she got some quick points fromTai’s errors to keep her in the match.

I have never seen more improvement in endurance in a player than I have seen in Yoofie. When I first saw her badminton on the international scene, she was all pleasant rally type game but no stamina. Now, she is all retrieving, legs, endurance and accuracy.

Indeed, freaking good match! Chen barely Attack tai. Only if tai can outLast Chen in rally. Tai played a few punches instead of the usual smashes. Chen was caught. Unfortunately, she revert to your smashes and Attack again. Chen know where she is going to hit, can read tai too well. Sad. I support Tai. Congrats to Chen!

so far all finals have been awesome.
XD Final was fighting with their lives. All out to see who is the best on that day even though it was a all china affair.

MD final was straight sets. But I was on my feet all the way bcos I wantEd Taiwan to win badly. Awesome first set.

Phew, it was more of a battle of nerves than skills or anything, esp from G2 onwards, the decider was about who made the fewer mistakes.

Frankly, Chen Yufei was too passive in G3, she won mostly from TTY's error-laden game due to her nervousness. Still credit to CYF for being more patient and biding her time, only attacking when absolutely necessary, knowing TTY who's trailing would be forced to go on the attack more and hence more likely to commit errors.

Well, the strategy worked as very few players can really perform under intense pressure. Of course, it helps that CYF is very familiar with TTY's game, able to read and anticipate most of her shots, including the tricky and deceptive ones.
