Pretty sure it's Sindhu's injection of pace and court awareness in the last 3 points that did it. XD

just goes to show on any given day, anyone can beat anyone else. unfortunately for Japan, one by one (or two by two), all of them fell, starting with their star player, Momota

You have to feel for Akane. The last Japanese remaining. There was always gloom in the camp, so yeahh. Sindhu was in the zone. In the second game, I feel Akane long rally win gave her much needed confidence that she can come back, she fought, won points and lead. I don't think Sindhu played bad during that time, it was Akane sheer determination (which we all like) which made her win points. 20-18 down, it's remarkable how Sindhu won 4 consecutive points, honestly I didn't expect that. I'm satisfied with the performance. Well done Sindhu.

Yamaguchi was getting best of her in long rallies but as for shot selection, opted to go for a lot of body smashes that were deflected without much trouble. I think that without international competitions for Japan it's tricky because there's no chance to spar against high level female players who have PVS build - taller and plays with a big smash.

Side question, what is with many of the women wearing black thigh length compression shorts underneath their uniform? Is there a certain benefit why the material must go halfway down the thigh? Kind of weird to see it sticking down below their skort or shorts uniforms.
