Shi Yuqi has been a class above anyone else at this year's Games.

JC in trouble. SYQ seems to be in the zone. This is something I didn't expect of SYQ, because he was away from top international competition for so long.

    weird game from JC
    he is not high spirited

seems like more emotional, than tactical or technical tbh

YukuHiro did well enough to take 1 game off Chen/Jia. Hope they recover in time when the international circuit begin.

The setups for the smashes from SYQ are amazing. And wow that backhand clear. Haven't seen that for a long time. :):D

EDIT: Is it me or Shi Yu Qi's spinning net shots have been consistent throughout his match against Jonathan Christie? Is it that he has improved pretty well preparing Olympics or had a lucky game so far?

That backhand by SYQ to the back corner, LOL. Even JC couldn't believe it!

It's very hard to just raise your level to the top level, if you haven't played in top international tournaments for some time. Some players can do it (ie. LD in 2013 WC), but some players can't, like Momota and some of the other Japanese players. Usually, it takes a few top international tournaments for a player to return to their original form.

Anyways, good play by SYQ today. I expected a much closer game between him and JC.

I would love to see MAS vs TPE in MD final.
    That would be entertaining.
But realistic is INA vs CHN and the short rally game
