I checked it out and it actually led to somewhere but, first, HTTPS Everywhere says it's unsafe (proceed anyway) which I did (bravely, out of curiosity), then it went to adfoc.us where you have to wait a six-second countdown before a 'skip' button appears at the top right-hand corner, press it and the youtube video appears.

yes. what malaysian badminton player could be more authoritative on the subject of competing in the olympics?

the haters are people who would never even win a match at their local recreation center.

To be fair. They are frustrated fans who want to see them win.

The problem now is goh was injured and she still want to go knowing she wont make it. Now, the lost all the matches making it worse. She didnt take docs advice some more in her own admittance in fb. Even chan play so crappy without attacking the female.;)

A bit selfish perhaps? Why not let tan and lai go? Now tan and lai may not even got to play in og in next 3 years. Be kind and give chance for others to play la. ;)

LCW is Chef De Mission for Msia for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

It is his job to speak up for the athletes. It is not just LCW speaking as a retired badminton player but as the CDM.
This is why he spoke up so fast.

Like LCW say in Astro interview "It doesnt matter win or lose, I am there. For me, the responsibility is same because I'm as the CDM. Win, I am there. Lose, I am there"(translated from malay)

I think what LCW meant is Win or lose he as the CDM is there for the athletes.

Normally in the past the Sports Minister will say something to defend the athletes but this time LCW faster.
Most notably was criticism towards dressing woman's gymnastics muslim athlete. Farah Ann always gets the brickbats on this.

To represent and cater to the needs of the contingent. Hmm, how should I rephrase? Basically, anything major wants to be conveyed to athletes, then CDM is ideally needed. CDM is like an ambassador of the contingent.

To cater to the welfare & needs of the athletes, all the athletes of Msia contigent. And deal with the press.

I havent translated the whole interview so here it is (vid in post 14405) :

"All athletes, like me last time, have injuries. But we dont talk about it(ie to public). We carry the injury & manage it so it wouldnt become serious.
But suddenly at the tournament there's tough match, injured that part/re injured.

As an athlete, we have to face what people say. I feel that when we lose, we feel down, its normal.

Like I shared, Peng Soon, he cannot see his family. CPS has 4 children, cannot see them for 2 months.Cannot see his wife.*
    This is the athletes sacrifice.

Its not like they go there, dont want to fight & lost. They tried their best.
When they win, I am there. When they lose, I am there. Cos I am the CDM. Doesnt matter win or lose, I am there, its my resposibility.

There are people who support, there are people who dont support, I accept all the comments.
As an ex athlete, I have gone through all this. When we win, all happy, people give congratulations.
Dont be when we lose, choke until cannot breathe."

    * There was a centralized training for 2 months before Olympics where Olympic bound players train in a bubble.
They were not allowed to go home to see their families or mingle around. Players had to stay at the BAM hostel.

Majority of athletes will be carrying some injuries - depends how severe or in a crucial area.

Agree. Every athletes also sacrifice for not meeting their families.

So, excuse is excuse. All great sports person goes thro this. Not only them. Some are even more severe with family death, tragedy, etc.. injury is peanuts. It is irresponsible to go denying others. ;)

Maturity and experience sure helps. Pre-mature or jumping the gun doesnt. ;)

LCW is a really good ambassador for the sport, even after his retirement.

Is it possible to stop bringing religion into these discussions? Afaik we're not in the middle ages, so we really don't have to credit God for every little positive thing that happens to us or things we achieve

Exactly, as if God (assuming 'He' exists) has nothing better to do than to engage in such petty worldly affairs and trifles, even taking sides, all while the world over there are the global pandemic roiling, serious conflicts everywhere, widespread extreme poverty and socioeconomic inequality, oppression, exploitation, injustices, diseases, natural catastrophes and man-made disasters, such as risk of global food shortages, severe weather, and so on and so forth.
