    Not sure.

I also do wonder which vaccine did the Chinese team have.

According to Tokyo OG playbook, the earliest arrival for badminton is 17th July 2021.

very difficult draw for LZJ/CL/CTC all involved. 1 of them going to go to SF to plays either Antonsen/Ginting. i'd pick the pool from AA/Ginting to reach the Final.

Likely WS QFdraws look like this

    ChenYufei vs AnSeYoung
    Okuhara vs HeBingJiao
    P.V.Sindhu vs AkaneY
    R.Intanon vs TaiTzuYing

Intanon (9), Sindhu (11), Akane (11) worths a punt as they are 4th-6th favourite. Odds are too low for TTY and CYF. can even feel HeBingJiao that might reach the final worth a sprinkler. Definitely the most exciting discipline too even without Marin. Going for ChenYufei vs Intanon Final.

Is that quite late? I seem to remember other Olympics the teams arrive earlier.

Yeah, little bit too late and unusual for normal OG previously. CHN team will fly tomorrow morning (18th July) if I'm not mistaken read the info somewhere. INA team had departed earlier to Japan (Kumamoto prefecture) on 8th July and will arrive in Tokyo on 19th July.

It seems like the toughest group matches will be in MD and XD.
As far as the rest go, bar any unforeseen circumstances, the seeded players should make it out of their own groups.

Do we know if most of the badminton athletes stay in hotel or athletes village?

1 official tested positive yesterday and another 2 more at athletes village today.

They stay in hotel first before moving to athletes village. I think I got that from Lauren Smith’s Instagram.

It’s pretty bad news athletes and officials are testing positive. The people around them have to isolate. We might see another All England type situation.

There was a lot of time for governments to vaccinate and prepare players idk what they were doing, I just hope all qualified players will be able to play.

Vaccination would not prevent one from contracting Covid-19.
It will/may protect the person from severe conditions or death.

Vaccinated people would still contract and spread the virus.

Of course, just saying that if everyone is already vaccinated at least what happened at AE wont have to repeat.

Correction - some teams arrive today or tomorrow and it seems those go straight to the Olympic village.

Actually, I am not so sure vaccination would make a difference. Contact with a positive case still need to isolate.

I agree with you. Vaccine help to lower the chances of being seriously ill, which should help to prevent the healthcare sector from being overwhelmed. This is why UK is rushing to get people vaccinated before ending the lockdown on 19-Jul.
So if you are positive, then pray that you recover in time being your competition start. Else it means your Olympics is over.
If I'm the athlete, I'd hope my event start asap.
