This forum used to be so much more active for a semi-finals match in one of the top tournaments of the year. Where did everybody go? Is it because people don't know that top level badminton is continuing again during the pandemic?

I hope tomorrow's Men's Singles finals will be exciting. I suspect Viktor Axelsen will be playing at the same level he has been playing in the last 3 weeks. For Antonsen though, who knows what level he will play at. If Antonsen doesn't play at his best level, and Viktor isn't showing any mercy to a teammate, Viktor will steamroll Antonsen.

Antonsen better be coming with his best form tomorrow. If he plays like he did against Vittinghus last week, and Viktor doesn't mind embarrassing his teammate, I think Viktor will steamroll Antonsen. If Antonsen comes ready to play, I think the match could be interesting, although I would give the edge to Viktor right now because of Viktor's form.

Maybe part of it is that not all countries are participating, so supporters for players from those countries aren't so invested. Some top players from participating countries aren't playing too.

Also, almost identical finals for the 3rd week in a row isn't going to pull in the crowds.

what a horrific end of the tour, so a lot of uninteresting games (starting from the end of group matches), such a bad system, it seems that professional badminton is completely broken under covid and governance of bwf :/ the level of play is so bad after such a long period without competing (with except of very few athletes, who dominate now), we need competition continuation in some form

The level of play is indeed bad, but you can't fault the players, because a lot of them couldn't even train properly. This is also why the results are so uneven. I mean, 7 out of 8 MS Finalists during Covid have been Danes, so I guess the old saying "If life gives everyone else lemonades, make lemonade" is still true.:p
I guess it can only get better at this point.

    I agree.
It's not even fun watching all the replays on YouTube. Only real competitive matches I've seen are the korean and thai XD matches...

better than this? there is no plan what so ever to have normal schedule, except to have couple of low level tournaments in spring in Europe, where once again Danes will just dominate everything, so it it seems that this shitty situation will be for a while, and way too $£"$"£$%"$£% long...

Yeah WS used to be the most interesting discipline (within the top 8 ranked anyway) but 3 same finals mean its the biggest joke.

and tournaments keep servings all country finals like in MS and WD. simply because the other top participants didnt play. cant be good, can it? despite what it says take your chance and etc.

in 2019, the most all country finals i believe in WD and MD. However, then it was all done with full participants. There is sense of competitiveness and you know how difficult MD is.

    KOREAN FIRST
All Korean finals as expected, Kititharakul/Prajongjai unable to replicate their sensational victory over the stronger Kim/Kong couple of weeks ago. Lee/Shin lead the way to power past Malaysian surprising semifinalists Chow MK/Lee MY. Kudos for the Koreans who can optimize the situation in the absence of familiar foes, Japanese and China women's doubles pairs dominate the winner's list of WTFinals & previously Superseries Final.

    DADDIES HUNT FOURTH
Finally the Daddies break the jinx to implement exact formula, more aggressive play to counter attack and penetrate Korean dynamic duo. Almost slipped in opening game the Indonesians didn’t want to loose their grip as Choi/Seo difficult to develop their game plan and started to uncomfortable, being dictated throughout the second game. Lee/Wang look forward to bag third MD crown in this challenging season, the Taiwanese duo were seriously troubled by highly potential England pair Lane/Vendy in really close match, 22-20 / 21-19. Defending champs Ahsan/Setiawan might add their crown to complete their collection (2013, 2015, 2019).

    MARIN-TAI TRILOGY
These two high profile names reach third final in Bangkok, WS seems less competitive at the moment? Tai Tzu Ying outwits the teen star An Se Young, thanks to her less error this time as Korean rallying type and slow pace let Tai develops her tactical play to produce deceptive shots. The world number one has problem to face fast-speed player who doesn’t give opportunity for her to think much about her high quality shots that need precision. Carolina Marin on her element to conquer home hopeful Pornpawee Chochuwong, dictating the pace with her lethal weapon. Will Tai TY take revenge today after two previous final defeats here? If the Taiwanese couldn’t control her gifted points and balance Spanish quick game, it would be gone case.

    DENMARK ASCEND
It’s all-Danish-affairs (once again) in BWF World Tour, something very rare happens in complete line-up attendance. Viktor Axelsen seeks hat-trick feat after demolished regular rival Chou Tien Chen yesterday, 31 years old Chou practically ran out of steam in second game despite had good fight to trouble the Dane in previous set. Seems Axelsen is invincible during three weeks, only losing one game in Yonex THA Open against Anthony Ginting. More interesting semifinal tie served in earlier time when Anders Antonsen edges out Wang Tzu Wei in roller-coaster match, both players twist and turn to retrieve shuttlecock, exchanging hard smases that preceded by tight net shots, also exhibiting nice disguising placement.

    PLOT TWIST?
Local hotshots Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai score their biggest achievement in their badminton career so far, entering first ever final in BWF World Tour Finals. The Thais quell young and dangerous Gicquel/Delrue quick play, grabbing seven straight points to deny their opponents to force third game. A huge breakthrough for French promising stars and should be watch out in next tournaments. Last semifinal match saw Seo/Chae subdue Goh SH/Shevon Lai, a contrast fashion between two games as the Malaysians performance decline drastically after put gritty fight in first set.

My sentiments, exactly. The clash between these two XD pairs are the only matches that feels hotly contested in the past 3 weeks. I hope Seo and Chae bags this one to be honest.

Agreed. It's terrible. I agree with the BWF press release, that it does sound cool on earphones but there was nothing wrong with earphone sound before, while sound on speakers used to be fine and now it is bloody awful.
