He tried hard to keep his record of not winning a match in WTF, since 2014, intact

This can be a big confidence dampener, he lost the matches although he is dictating most part of the game. He need to work a lot on fitness and strength, so that he can keep attacking mode on for 3 games.

OngTeo confused how to play against another crafty pair.

Lane shot have left MAS pair rooted many times.

An Se Young has beaten Carolina Marin in 3 games.
Last week or week before, i could not recall, Marin was saying something like" if she wants to beat me, she has to work hard, if that's what she wants".
    She spoke too soon.
An Se Young seems she worked hard.

Marin barely half trying...how casual can one be before the officials suspect something.

Three pairs have the same number of wins, but Lee/Shin have more games won than the remaining two so they top the group. Chow/Lee and Polii/Rahayu have the same total number of games won, so ultimately it's the encounter between those pairs that decide who qualifies. Had the indonesians won one game today they would've surpassed the Malaysians even if they lost, since they would be one game up in total

Agreed. Marin didn't try her best. Just moved ASY around the court and tried some fancy shots and she's quite relaxed. I'm waiting for her next match :)

Matches against An Se Young are the only times that I find myself rooting for Marin. Horrible to watch.

The funniest part was watching ASY screaming at the end as if she had just won the OLY gold medal final.

Still much to learn I guess...

Didn't she beat marin 21-5 or smth in the decider of the denmark open final? Was she also holding back then? Yes she has much to prove still but she is a good player and only 18 on top of that. I personally enjoy watching her, she moves smoothly and has good net skills. We can't expect everyone to possess the stroke play of TTY lol

Is it just me or does Ginting look already knackered again? These two are really "not gegen elend", as we say in Germany.

That match was the first meeting between each other iirc. Marin as a "quick attack quick finish" player didn't know how to counter the wall of ASY, consequently she succumbed to herself. However, in next counters, I found her come well-prepared and constructed the rallies more before finding a chance to finish. From my view, it's easy to beat her once if you're patient enough (that's what ASY did, retrieving everything), but in the next match, it's an uphill task :)

Honestly, I'm looking forward to CYF/NO vs Marin more than ASY. Marin will crown this tournament again

By introducing the draw for the semi finals after the OG 2012 scandal, they removed the "fixed draw" and thus part of the problem, but not all. It is still certain that the winner of a group cannot draw the winner of the other group. But, even more importantly, and not mentioned very often, it is also certain that the runner-up of a group cannot draw the runner-up of the other group.

You can speculate that Marin did not care that much to win today because her odds would be better as a runner-up (she can then not draw TTY/RI if Pornpawee wins the group)

But being in Pornpawee's shoes right now after Marin's loss to ASY, the only way to avoid Marin in the semis is to lose against PVS. So Pornpawee has a good reason to lose on purpose.

    Conclusions:
The problem is not entirely fixed.
Marin and Pornpawee's matches should have been played at the same time on different courts. Bad for audience, good for the sport.
We also have the problem in MS. VA and AA should play their matches at the same time.
