Yonemoto/Tanaka. A press conference will be held later today. They actually did really well at last month's All Japan Championships, where they finished third place.

It's great to see them go out on their own terms. I initially thought Yonemoto's injury was already the end.
Do you know if they will remain with Hokuto Bank in some form?

Does anyone know where I could watch these matches live. Before BWF TV used to show it live, esp the Tour finals. Is there any broadcaster showing these matches live.

That's why they are not in team A. I felt that thing but I didn't want to speak it.

... based on the assumption the current top 10 are in top shape?

these thailand tournaments are hardly the time to conclude significant changes to a new world order in badminton are upon us.

this does not surprise me in the least. i've often railed about bwf's lack of intelligent professionalism. the decisions they make often make no sense to the extent the decisions appear to be arbitrary.
bingo! it was blatantly obvious to anyone with half a brain it was bullshit. if you pay attention to what's going on in global sports in general it magnifies bwf's lack of common sense.

Yep, they showed real grit and class. YoneTana had hoped to make a comeback on the international scene last year, but unfortunately, those plans dissipated along with the advent of Covid-19.

The pair are going to retire from competitive badminton, but have not yet clarified what their future plans are. An announcement will probably be made at today's press conference.

A 'sayonara' match has been scheduled for January 30, where they will be playing their teammates, NagaMatsu.

    • There's no plot twists in men's singles category, Axelsen axes Lee Zii Jia, hard to believe this is the same guy who almost stunned former World Champion in All England semifinal 2020. The under pressure young Malaysian succumbs desperately to Danish star, 16-21 / 4-21. The steady Chou Tien Chen overcomes Anthony Ginting. Qualified in last minute into World Tour Finals, the Indonesian must end his journey prematurely. When Chou grabbed opening game, it seems Ginting inner-belief tumbled and completely off color in second game. Both Anders Antonsen and Wang Tzu Wei also secure their spot in knock-out phase. Once again, Kidambi Srikanth creates blunder in critical points that hampering him to seal the match against Wang.
    • Women's singles will more pay attention in group B where Tai Tzu Ying-Ratchanok Intanon will play do-or-die match today. Pornpawee Chochuwong surprises high-profile name again to vanquish the below-par Tai Tzu Ying, she capitalises the chance to be drawn alongside two error-proned players plus the declining mode Pusarla Sindhu. Carolina Marin and An Se Young continue their stability, the Olympic Champion is favoured to top group A against An SY in their third meeting in three consecutive weeks.
    • None is safe in men's doubles group B as last tie of group stage will determine their fate in this event, all competitors score winning once, only separated by games number and points margin. Meanwhile top contenders Lee/Wang cruise into semis after pocketing second victory.
    upload_2021-1-28_21-33-4.png
    • Mixed doubles young sensations Gicquel/Delrue through to next round, a huge breakthrough for French badminton. Intricate script in group A where strong favorites Puavanukroh/Taerattanachai lost their finest touch to left handers Seo/Chae and put this home hopefuls in must win situation against Ellis/Smith. A more difficult prospect to Jordan/Oktavianti who will take on the Koreans in last match, a similar condition for Faizal/Widjaja who MUST win over Goh/Shevon Lai. The world #8 fought hard to topple DEN Open Champs Lamsfuss/Herttrich, it's Isabel Herttrich who committed service error in 20-19 that shifted the momentum to the Indonesians.

Because several notable absentees. Perhaps we would see badminton "full" normal in March?

everyone saying Ginting having worse performance in this World Tour Finals, but for me, Lee Zii Jia is more having worse performance here, losing to Viktor Axelsen in the score of 4-21 in 2nd game...

Ginting is 'more established' whereas Zii Jia is 'emerging'?
So Ginting 'worldwide' expectations is much higher vs ZJ's 'MY local' expectations
    XD

Both are sh*ck. They look like they didnt train prior to the tournaments. PLayers like CTC/VA is still going to SF Finals each tournament. The only saving grace is Ginting wont lose any points (which i expect for the rest of 2021). He performed much better in 2019 WTF.

Ahsan wife just give birth. Maybe thats contributing to lower than usual performance from him, lack of sleep etc. Even Gideon child born on same day? Athletes have 2/3 children , its like so many these days standard while INA tfr is >2. Just really different from East Asia standard or Thailand even.

Of course! Cause from March on we will have the Race to Tokyo opened. For 100 % every nation / player will start at the tournaments in Switzerland and Germany , even if there is more corona like in Thailand.

If Lee so hee/Seung Chan win, they will be the top. (already done, they were on top)

And I don't know which pair in the picture below will go though.

Head to head or PF-PA, which one would be counted

Feel sorry for srikanth, 3 very narrow losses in 3 days... I hope it doesn't take to much of a toll on his confidence
