There's big discrepancy between BWF World Ranking and World Tour Ranking, that's the problem.

    • Anthony Ginting exhibits worse performance than his last meeting against Viktor Axelsen, credit to tall Dane who played excellently and less error, can anticipate almost all of his attacking shots and reading well Ginting weakness and strength aspect. On the contrary, the Indonesian replicates his usual habit to produce tons of unnecessary mistakes and looks frustrated in second game that causing runs out of idea, losing confidence to implement his game plan, 21-17 / 21-8. Ginting needs to rectify his performance today against Chou Tien Chen who subdues the off-color Lee Zii Jia in three games, the Malaysian playing quite passive than normally offensive style.
    • Anders Antonsen wins narrowly over Kidambi Srikanth, thanks to Indian elementary errors at crucial stages in third game that wasting his opportunity to pick victory in opening match. Wang Tzu Wei tops group B at the moment, overcomes Ng Ka Long defensive and rallying play in quick attacking shots.
    • More intricate plot descibed in WS group B, the below par Tai Tzu Ying was stretched into three games by Pusarla Sindhu whilst the tiring Ratchanok Intanon lost three games to younger compatriot Porpawee Chochuwong. Two favorites in group A, Carolina Marin and An Se Young as expected pass their first group-stage match.
    • A stern test for Ahsan/Setiawan who meet Choi/Seo today as the Indonesians lost in two previous encounters including the latest one couple of weeks ago. Aaron Chia/Soh WY bring their best to conquer the Koreans yesterday and will up against Russian towering duo Ivanov/Sozonov.
    • Polii/Rahayu avenge their defeat over familiar foes Lee/Shin in gruelling match, 94 minutes of play. Such an unfortunate both pairs facing off each other prematurely, it's understandable circumstance since there's two pairs from same country in group A.
    • Jordan/Oktavianti unable to reverse their fortune against home favourites Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai, the All England Champs are predicted to pass Ellis/Smith today as trickier opponents await them in last match of group-stage tie, Seo/Chae. Meanwhile French promising stars, Gicquel/Delrue prove their poteantial to watch out next, they stun higher-ranked rivals Faizal/Widjaja in three games, controlling the pace throughout deciding game.

Yeah its safe to say we wont see YW and SSJ for much longer, maybe 1 year or so (Depend on Olympics). Yuta can achieve more in XD if he focuses certainly dont recommend him to play and find another MD player. Of course they are a bit harder to play due to their left and right combi.

Just casual from Ahsan.. 18-15 up . easy defend hits the net, letting the shuttle in. Oh well, they deserve to lose.

SSJ dont even play well after the interval.

LeeWang is WR3 now. Basically they got extra 2 tournaments points. Last year, WTF they reached SF so if they win they will add a few thousands. Same tournaments shouldnt be added as the best points though. I believe they are the biggest gainer in top 8.

seems like the Ivanov/Sozonov still have a chance to make to semifinal round, meanwhile Aaron/Soh need to win against Ahsan/Setiawan if they want to make it to semifinal round...

ChiaSoh has no answer for unorthodox play of IvanovSozonov and i d label them as favourites against ChoiSeo (simply bcoz Seo hasnt look convincing due to jadedness).

Leftie Rightie vs Leftie Rightie here we go.

especially Aaron at the last points in 1st game, many time unable to hit flat shuttle across the net, thus giving the RUS pair more points to win...

What am I even watching with this MS, Wang Tzu Wei playing so passively and making so many errors against Kidambi. At least in the first game.

Yes that's true. But it is only like this in this particular corona year. Usually the best in the world rankings also qualify for the WTF. In the last WTF in December 2019, the first seven of the men's singles world rankings also took part. Maybe in a normal year you will slip into the WTF as No. 10 in the world rankings if one or two nations have more than two players in the top eight. But that is not the main problem this year. BWF did a very poor job of handling the return to competitive sport. For example, the Chinese and Japanese have also registered for the first major tournament after Corona (Denmark Open I in October). At that time Denmark was one of the safeties places in the world. We have been tested every second day for corona and the bubble was very good and safe! The Chinese and Japanese team wanted to play there because the Thomas / Ubercup was to be played in Denmark a week before. After several nations (not Japan, not China!) canceled the Thomascup, BWF canceled the entire tournament. Only then did the Chinese and most of the Japanese cancel the Denmark Open. Why? The reason is very simple. BWF had previously stated that there are points for the WTF for the Denmark Open, but not for the Olympic qualification "Race to Tokyo". And so this is also the main reason for the cancellation of the Thailand Open and thus the WTF. If there had been points for the Race to Tokyo at these tournaments, 100% of all these nations and players would have competed and we would have had a normal WTF. So the team from China "had problems with the exit modalities with their authorities?" Bullshit! At the same day the Chinese Team should fly to Thailand all Chinese tennis players fly to Australia for the Australian Open.
So I hope you understand my point of view. It's not easy at this times , we all have to do our best.
BTW - In my opinion, the WTF is the most unnecessary tournament of the year. The only good thing is that a sponsor gives a lot of money and the players have a good opportunity to make money. The sporting importance is very low. Or do you still know all the winners of the WTF from 2016, for example? No? Ok, but every badminton fan knows the winners of the 2016 Olympics. Everyone stays healthy!
