when ginting's tired he'll opt for backhand way more often. having a fitness issue against hong kong's lee cheuk yu is concerning.

Whole match was a slug fest, both players trying to play fast and attacking. Lee took advantage and controlled his opponent a bit more but there were also some nice points won at the net by Ginting. Would have like to see Ginting mix it up a bit more to play front court, seemed like he was more gassed out than Lee in the end.

About fitness issue, Ginting plays at a higher pace than Lee and had tougher matches including last week. It wasn't sustainable for him to play his usual way in back to back tournaments.

that's the concerning part. under normal non-pandemic circumstances the top tier tournaments are also scheduled back-to-back or back-to-back-to-back anyway w/ a little travel in between. it's more difficult than this thailand bubble.

ginting needs to manage his fitness to match his playing style. it's pretty much a basic requirement for all athletes.

think about repeated back-to-back winners of tournaments: win on a sunday (after 5 matches), deal with evening travel crap which you lose a good night sleep, then play again on tue or wed, and be fit enough to win 5 more for a two-in-a-row. much harder than camping out in a bubble i'd say.

Only watched the match for 2 minutes. Somewhere where the commentate said Ginting was leading 17-10 and lost 19-21. Thats pretty silly, if he won G1, he wins the match.

Maybe players will be forgiven after missing 10 months of tournament that they look rusty and inconsistent but having weird losses might as well lose in 2 straight games, you will sleep better at night.

the order of play is spit out by tournament software. the referee can change it but rarely does. the tournament host can also request changes, which the referee will accomodate, but they rarely do. there's no monetary incentive to make changes since nobody is paying to watch it on youtube.

Ginting lost the ticket to take part to World Tour Final already. Lee Cheuk Yik just took that ticket. (although we have to wait for the match between Rhustavio vs Vittinghus)

hầyyyyyyy, I was waiting for years to see Nishimoto playing at World Tour Final. This year was a big chance to take it but the faith caused him stay at home to watch other players playing.

Wang Tzu Wei somehow managed to take part WTF in two consecutive years although he's never been in top ten players. Faith !!!!!!

    Jealous, so jealous!

Oh. You are talking about comeback 'incident'. If you ask me, that is not an incident. In fact , sameer verma did exceptionally well to come back.

Even in the first rounds it's only fair to see also other players. The organizers have
to show players from all over the world and not even the same players every single day.
So at these tournaments you have nearly 40 games in the first days and they show 20 games ,
ok at Yonex Thailand Open there was one day with 21 games ...
What I mean is they show 50 % of the games in the first day and that's brilliant.

    How ?

Ginting has 22820 points, and he will have 22820 + 3000 points (winning the first round)

Lee Cheuk Yik has 19620 points, and he will have 19620 + 6600 points (winning the second round)

    22820 - 19620 = 3200 points
    6600 - 3000 = 3600 points

    3600 >3200

Yes , I think so . The only one who will catch him now is Verma from India. So if Kidambi is not allowed to play the WTF Ginting
is for sure in the WTF !

Kidambi is in quarantain cause his roommate was infected with covid. So he had to withdraw from the second round and is in quarantain for 10 days. So normally he is not allowed to play WTF.

Ginting gets 4800 points , 3000 for starting at the tournament , 1800 for winning the first round
Lee Cheuk Yik gets until now 3000 for starting , 1800 for winning the first round , 1800 for winning the second round.
So at the moment Ginting is in front. Even if Lee Cheuk Yik wins the next round he is nr. 7 in the ranking and Ginting nr. 8.
