It was actually their german opponent's coach who tested positive for covid, but bwf allowed them to play anyway and therefore the HK pair didn't want to play due to the risk...

Where is all the clapping coming from between points and at the end of matches?

I thought all spectators were prohibited...

i think that's a stretch. hard to call someone the best when they have never ranked higher than #3 in the world -for 3 weeks with no tournaments played- and spends most of the time ranked around 7-8. some consider him the most talented but you can't ignore the fact he tends to crack in the 2nd half of a third game against top 5 opponents. he's 24. the best ms players of this era have spent time at #1 with far more titles before turning 24. the next 2 years will show us what ginting's legacy will be.
sometimes it's mental, sometimes physical. it could simply be that's who he is. like the rest of us, he'll never be #1 in the world.

i'm not sure whom you refer to? Momota? How many titles have he won at 24 - despite we knowing he is the best in his era .. or do you refer to LinDan? If you refer to LinDan, that is fair enough, he won far more titles than anybody at that age. well, im sure Taufik also won more titles than KM at that age. or do you refer to ChouTienChen, who have only won 5 SS titles throughout his careers but have always looked far superior than almost anybody else...

simply the world is on demographic collapse and its hard for youngsters to win so many titles these days or being WR1 much younger than that. Also, 1 year is wasted before he turns 24 not through his own fault unlike someone else.

If this man accompanied Ginting in last night's match, then after every rally in the third set we will hear the sound "Focus, Ting", "Be patient !!"

    8, plus 1 wc gold.

axelsen reached #1 @ age 23 and stayed there for a year.

so few can become or will become #1 due to their ability relative to their competition.
so few will go down in history as #1 especially if it's occupied by someone else for a long time.
you cannot compare someone to other historic #1's until they become a #1.

the original subject was someone else stating/thinking ginting is the best player on the circuit. i can't tell if you agreed with the assertion or not. do you or don't you? by virtue of his record and ranking, he is not.

imo ginting will never be #1.

If you count till 2018 yeah Momota has 8 SS titles+ 1WC. Ginting has 4 titles + AG bronze. He could have had 8 titles if he had not lose close and 1 unjustified final but its fine, it is what it is. Well, do you know how many titles LD has at end 2007?

Momota is definitely the bellweathwer. I too dont agree but i guess he is referring to those who are present at these 3 tournaments, in which Axelsen still tops that with experience.

Yeah it is tough, i dont think he will be number 1 unless there is some kind of injuries to other players, in that respect KM is lucky because he didnt miss 1 year of playing time while others are playing last year. see, these stuffs happen never say never.

Of course the distinction is much clearer in Singles compared to doubles. You are either the best or youre not.

When Axelsen WR1, i believe it was during the time LCW was banned and also due to Momota absence.
Still you sounded angry saying ginting will never be WR1.

Will i be angry if any other doubles player were to be WR1 for few months to half years, i dont think so since i already enjoyed it anyway..

Both INA and host THA representatives facing off each other in final round where the Indonesians are favoured to pick the title based on head to head stats but never rules out homeground factor that sometimes boost extra motivation. A big setback for KOR camp when their players faltered one by one in semis.

    • An ideal final in mixed doubles category as predicted, Thai stars and the All England Champs as well experienced tough and tense moment before conquer their semifinal opponent. Puavranukroh/Taerattanachai came from behind to save two match points against Korean lefthanders Seo SJ/Chae YJ, 22-20 then followed by Jordan/Oktavianti who do similar feat how to edge past French youngsters Gicquel/Delrue, 23-21. The Indonesians won last four matches in six meetings against local hopefuls.
    • In the absence of iconic star the Minions plus Japanese squad and the unexpected INA hotshots premature exit, these two finalists capitalise rare situation. Rio OG silver medalists Goh VS/Tan WK are too strong for the inexperienced world junior champions Carnanto/Marthin who can't develop their game plan and break MAS excellent defense plus fast intercept shots at front area. Lee Y/Wang CL halt Korean tricky pair Choi SG/Seo SJ.
    • A huge surprise occurs in women's double discipline where two KOR powerful combinations toppled in last four, Lee SH/Shi SC can't control the rhythm in next two games rather than exploits numerous unforced errors and lost to Polii/Rahayu. Also Kim SY/Kong HY who often troubling WD dominant force the Japanese pairs this time looks quite off form and powerless, credit to home favourites Kititharakul/Prajongjai who display slight improvement in terms of attacking and defense department.
    • The big match of final day, Taiwan darling Tai Tzu Ying sets up most anticipated clash with the Olympic and three-time World Champion Carolina Marin. Tai exhibits her magic deceptive shots in opening game that awes all badminton fans but as usual the world number one unable to keep her ability to play neatly in second game and starting to produce elementary mistakes and lack of accuracy as Mia Blichfeldt injects the pace to apply more aggressive mode. Earlier on same court Carolina Marin quelled Korean teen sensation An Se Young who implemented safe style and quite passive against the more pro-active Spaniard.
    • First ever final in S1000 tournament for the underdog Ng Ka Long, his persistent play that could be translated by long rallies then seizing up opportunity to unleash hard smash when his opponent off guard, Chou Tien Chen wasted his good lead in second game and began tiring at deciding game. Anthony Ginting creates blunder that hampering him snatch golden ticket, he seems paralyzed, lost concentration completely at interval break of third game, 11-7 to end quickly 13-21 for Viktor Axelsen victory. Ginting implements right strategy to play tight net shots with quick sudden shots or lethal smash that troubling the tall Dane. Inconsistency problem still haunting Ginting to go further and fulfill the expectation while Axelsen proves his status in top-tier tournament. Former world champion is clear favourite to top podium as the HKG player never won in eight previous encounters.

A bit less mistakes from Jordan and Oktavianti and that would be easy, 3 serve errors in one set not the way to win it
