i think that's a stretch. hard to call someone the best when they have never ranked higher than #3 in the world -for 3 weeks with no tournaments played- and spends most of the time ranked around 7-8. some consider him the most talented but you can't ignore the fact he tends to crack in the 2nd half of a third game against top 5 opponents. he's 24. the best ms players of this era have spent time at #1 with far more titles before turning 24. the next 2 years will show us what ginting's legacy will be. sometimes it's mental, sometimes physical. it could simply be that's who he is. like the rest of us, he'll never be #1 in the world.
i'm not sure whom you refer to? Momota? How many titles have he won at 24 - despite we knowing he is the best in his era .. or do you refer to LinDan? If you refer to LinDan, that is fair enough, he won far more titles than anybody at that age. well, im sure Taufik also won more titles than KM at that age. or do you refer to ChouTienChen, who have only won 5 SS titles throughout his careers but have always looked far superior than almost anybody else... simply the world is on demographic collapse and its hard for youngsters to win so many titles these days or being WR1 much younger than that. Also, 1 year is wasted before he turns 24 not through his own fault unlike someone else.

8, plus 1 wc gold. axelsen reached #1 @ age 23 and stayed there for a year. so few can become or will become #1 due to their ability relative to their competition. so few will go down in history as #1 especially if it's occupied by someone else for a long time. you cannot compare someone to other historic #1's until they become a #1. the original subject was someone else stating/thinking ginting is the best player on the circuit. i can't tell if you agreed with the assertion or not. do you or don't you? by virtue of his record and ranking, he is not. imo ginting will never be #1.
If you count till 2018 yeah Momota has 8 SS titles+ 1WC. Ginting has 4 titles + AG bronze. He could have had 8 titles if he had not lose close and 1 unjustified final but its fine, it is what it is. Well, do you know how many titles LD has at end 2007? Momota is definitely the bellweathwer. I too dont agree but i guess he is referring to those who are present at these 3 tournaments, in which Axelsen still tops that with experience. Yeah it is tough, i dont think he will be number 1 unless there is some kind of injuries to other players, in that respect KM is lucky because he didnt miss 1 year of playing time while others are playing last year. see, these stuffs happen never say never.
Of course the distinction is much clearer in Singles compared to doubles. You are either the best or youre not. When Axelsen WR1, i believe it was during the time LCW was banned and also due to Momota absence. Still you sounded angry saying ginting will never be WR1.
