Having seen the matches I like the two finalists ; they stand out from the others except for Ren Pengbo. I have always thought highly of RP, but he lacks hard work and stamina. He is very tricky and has a strong attacking game which he uses very well. Thats why I am surprised that Gu Junfeng beat him. GJF had to play many tough games to get into the final. I would like to see how he fares against Weng Hongyang the next time they meet. GJF's game is very interesting. He is very fit and very fast. He is early to the returns taking the shuttle high up the net. His speed and footwork that he has, I dont think any of the top 10 players display this sort of style. Does this mean he hasnt matured and its still a junior being very lucky. On the other hand he doesnt make the silly mistakes that fast players do in their timing and placements. He can still make good defensive net plays and lobs against his opponents. Both RP and LLX have strong smashes but they struggled to use it as GJF' defensive returnes were very good. Is this a new style of play? Will he tone down the speed as all that running in a tournament will sap his energy? Interesting. Wouldn't it be interesting if the CBA can host a tournament just like the ITTF recently!!

https://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2020-12-29/doc-iiznezxs9587751.shtml In consideration of the Covid-19 situation within and outside China as well as the reported unexpected renewed coronavirus outbreak in Thailand, CBA has decided to pull out of all three tournaments scheduled for Thailand in January this month. {From what I've gathered, most of the China players were looking forward to playing in Thailand, with many expressing strong desire and determination to take part, so I supposed it must be a huge disappointment for the players. I guess CBA is playing safe, after all, this is the resumption of the new Olympic year for Tokyo slated for July to August; therefore, taking extra caution is the name of the game.- Justin}
My little uncle really deserve it.. congrats Still remember when he came to Jakarta for Thomas Cup with his China team.. those time Hanjian, Li YongBo, Tian Bingyi...Zhou jianhua..lots and lots

China’s top shuttlers’ first outing could be the Malaysian Open Friday, 05 Mar 2021 https://www.thestar.com.my/sport/ba...lers-first-outing-could-be-the-malaysian-open PETALING JAYA: Chinese badminton stars are set to make their long-awaited return to the international arena in May with Malaysia being the possible first destination. The likes of reigning Olympics champion Chen Long and Shi Yuqi (men’s singles), Chen Yufei (women’s singles), Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong (mixed doubles) last competed at the All-England in March last year. They did not travel to Bangkok for the three back-to-back World Tour legs in January after being barred from leaving the country by their government. For the ongoing season-opening Swiss Open and All-England this month, the China Badminton Association (CBA) did not submit any entries. But the fans can expect to catch their favourite players not too long from now. CBA president Zhang Jun revealed that they are planning to take part in three tournaments – Asian Badminton Championships (April 27-May 2), Malaysian Open (May 25-30) and Singapore Open (June 1-6). However, it’s not certain at this time as to whether Asia’s flagship event will be held as scheduled given the venue has not even been finalised yet. It was supposed to take place in China but the country has yet to reopen its borders. In the event that the ABC is postponed or cancelled, the Malaysian Open will be the next option for the Chinese team. “Our current plan is to participate in the Malaysia, Singapore and Asian Championships in May, ” Zhang Jun told Chinese media after unveiling the appointment of Yonex as the official sponsor for the Chinese national badminton team in Shanghai on Wednesday. “Before that, there will be the National Games preliminaries in early April. All players will return to their respective provincial teams to compete. We are very eager to find out the current state of our players’ performance.” The non-participation of Chinese shuttlers in the first few Olympics qualifiers including the Indian Open (May 11-16) will hardly have any impact on their chances. Except for the men’s doubles, China are virtually assured of two maximum quotas in the other four events. Despite being limited to just training throughout the pandemic period, Zhang Jun has insisted that the team’s preparations for the Tokyo Olympics remain on the right track. The CBA are setting their sights on repeating the clean sweep of all five gold medals previously achieved at the 2012 London Olympics. Meanwhile, Yonex has returned as the sponsor of the Chinese national team after a lapse of 12 years. The Japanese giants replaced Li-Ning who had been CBA’s previous equipment partner since 2009. ________ *BAC is postponed until further notice, they will skip IND meet and could show up in MAS & SGP Open as last two remaining tournaments for Race of Tokyo OG.
