I have always noticed how CTC is catching the shuttle so low from the T line to the net. Sometimes I feel like he could contact with the shuttle earlier but there is no way he doesnt notice that... anyone knows why he does that? I'm sure there is a reason.
I was gonna comment on how thin n weak physically Lamsfuss is but then he keeps making these bomb smashes up till this game 3 ....weird.....wth
WD final was so fast-paced. Rooting for the Matsu/Naga pair until Matsumoto did a service fault during the 3rd game comeback . Good job to both JP pairs!
Not everyone is built the same, some people are fairly explosive despite thin frames, also - a lot of the power in a smash comes from relatively small and not easily visible muscles and good technique properly utilizing those muscles...if you look at all the hardest smashers over the past 20 years, Fu and Jung are the only ones that I remember that really looked muscular, most others are of fairly average build. LCW, young LD, Hong Wei, Li Jinhui, TBH, maybe Zheng Siwei,.....the list goes on, but hardly any of them are significantly bigger than Lamsfuss. The taller guys look even thinner, and I'm guessing Lamsfuss is of similar height as LJH and HW. Even Ivanov, one of the hardest smashers on the tour rn, is not all that visually muscular, but you cant see a rotator cuff made of steel...
Well, Denmark Open has been concluded with Japan bags two titles in women's discipline whilst European shuttlers grab the remaining three. Ellis/Langridge break the jinx, score first ever victory over former All England Ivanov/Sozonov. A meaningful title after pocketed OG bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro four years ago. A sea-saw battle between these two pairs where the Russians took over the lead in opening game then the English duo did it the same fashion in beginning of deciding game Fukushima/Hirota recapture 2018 WD crown, edge past their compatriots Matsumoto/Nagahara, the former have very good start to stamp authority in first game before two-time World Champions awake in second game. The reigning All England Champions are back to business in final game despite late surge by MatsuNaga to save four match points, an anticlimactic last point when Mayu Matsumoto did blunder on her serve. Patient in the key factor in women's singles showdown, Nozomi Okuhara finally is back to winning track, thanks to her persistence and relentless defense that troubling and forcing the always-rushed Carolina Marin produced string of uncharacteristic errors, lack of accuracy and frustrated to kill shuttlecock. Last time Okuhara tasted victory was Hong Kong Open 2018 and being runner-up five times in BWF World Tour 2019. The inspiring German pair capitalise rare opportunity in the absence of familiar world's best pairs, creating history to snatch mixed doubles title in S750 event, more composed and creative world #17 Lamsfuss/Herttrich combination overcome second English pair in a row, The Adcocks in three games. Last match for home fans witnessing Anders Antonsen tops podium to end MS title drought for Denmark after exactly one decade when Jan O Jorgensen celebrated triumph in 2010. Very close contest in first two games in physically demanding duel, world number three endurance is better than Rasmus Gemke who obviously was exhausted in decider as displayed by scoreline, 21-12. Both players unable to walk post match due to their energy have drained a lot. Looks like both players need to improve physical strength, stamina-wise they're still struggling in long duration match. Badminton top flight tournament will be vacuum until January when Asian Leg and World Tour Finals are slated to commence but current political upheaval in Thailand sends worrying sign whether those January events would go as planned.
Brilliant finals weekend! Great to overcome Covid and have badminton once again! Saw Chris Langridge wearing ASICS badminton shoes, Court Control FF. Is he the only BWF player wearing ASICS?
My calculation for Race of World Tour Finals Standing (after DEN Open 2020 completion) in singles category : MEN'S SINGLES 01.Viktor Axelsen (DEN) 33,220 02.Anders Antonsen (DEN) 29,420 03.Kenta Nishimoto (JPN) 25,650 04.Rasmus Gemke (DEN) 25,620 05.Wang Tzu Wei (TPE) 23,840 06.Chou Tien Chen (TPE) 23,720 07.Shi Yuqi (CHN) 23,250 08.Kidambi Srikanth (IND) 21,760 *Big change in current standing, three players sneaking to top four ranking at the moment, Antonsen, Gemke and Nishimoto WOMEN'S SINGLES 01.Carolina Marin (ESP) 49,820 02.Nozomi Okuhara (JPN) 28,040 03.Ratchanok Intanon (THA) 23,260 04.Pornpawee Chochuwong (THA) 22,460 05.Wang Zhiyi (CHN) 21,780 06.Chen Yufei (CHN) 21,620 07.An Se Young (KOR) 20,340 08.Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) 19,800 *Overall, it's still the same ranking order, the only exceptional is the champion Okuhara who jumps to number two, move up ten rungs from #12 last week.
True, many thanks for local organizer and all involved parties to make it happen despite its shortcomings.
As far as I know, Vittinghus and Mads Conrad used to wear Asics Shoes. So I'm sure there will be several professional players wearing Asics shoes out there
Yeah yeah i got your point just that come to think of it you shouldn't include LcW since he might be skinny but he's full of muscle.... Lamsfuss looks like this frail little thing - like male version of Kimhana body type but smash bombs- though second viewing of the match looks like Lamsfuss smashes really really steep so maybe that helps a lot too (or maybe the shuttle too fast or Gabby really bad defences) Whatever.....sure fun watching him play
Disagree with the point about Gemke and Antonsen needing to improve physically, at least the way its phrased. If you have an incredibly tight match-up, both players are likely to exhaust themselves as their limits are close to each other and they will not be able to end rallies quickly. Unless one is having an off day, rallies will be longer than vs unfamiliar opponents. This was a very long match on finals day, it's really not that surprising that they're spent after that. Going by your logic, LCW should have improved physically because he was cramping after the 2011 and 2012 major finals vs LD and had to concede the 2013 one entirely. Also, you say they should improve strength and stamina as if they're the same or at least similar. They're not. They're actually opposing each other - the more you have of one, the less of the other you'll be able to achieve. There's a reason marathon runners aren't explosive and weight lifters can't run for any length of time. You can't be great at both.
