This thread keep getting "better" and better... And this coming from an official "Stringster Stringer". Hopefully they at least know how to operate the app itself. Although... I've seen jobs from them that were obviously 3-4 lbs. lower than ordered, soooo....
This is just horrible! How dare a stringer return a racket like this??? As a customer I would never go back there.
As a huge fan of TTY, this post does hurt a bit - but there can't be any mercy with bad stringers, no matter whose father they are. Here you go: And here is a screenshot that perfectly shows all the horrors that TTY-dad is guilty of: 1) He's doing the mains side-to-side 2) full pre-weave 3) super long transition from the last main to the crosses for the 1-piece bottom-up pattern 4) super ugly starter knot for the mains - although having a starter knot on the mains at all is as bad as is gets already Anything else I've missed? And in case anyone without any knowledge in Mandarin is interested in what is said, here's a quick & dirty translation (cheers to @speCulatius or his friend respecitvely): It basically says that TTY's parents came to Thailand to support her during the uber cup, and TTY'rackets are all strung by her father. In the interview her father was saying that he usually would string 6-8 rackets for TTY prior to matches based on her play habits, and he learned this stringing way from another person, he didn't know really know the reason though, and later it just have become a habit. The missing string at the bottom is just a habit and has nothing to do with tactics or so. So we can assume that this is the way he is normally stringing and not just something especially for this speed-measurement.
I am most appalled by number one (in combination with no4). But because of the pre-weave it almost looked like he strung the crosses first, then the mains And seriously, with pre-weave, side to side, one piece, on that machine, AND SKIPPING A STRING, he still takes 15m? How big do you think the deformation is with the side to side mains? It's a shame!
Now THAT would have really been something extraordinary! I have no idea. And I do not want to do any testing in that regard.
I'm surprised the racket doesn't look like a Z Slash at the wrong angle rofl. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
What I find funny about that video is that it pretty much has everything we would consider as a bad string job, yet those rackets have won many championships I hope no-one takes offence, but sometimes I do think that we are guilty of taking things too seriously when talking about a 1mm difference in racket length, and other such minutiae. I mean, I still measure ping frequency after I finish a job but more out of habit than anything else. If it feels good and plays well, that's what matters at the end of the day.
Totally get what you're saying bud. But I think our viewpoint is also that of people with enough experience to at least comment and also as a normal consumer. These things don't fall out trees when we shake them lmao. So having proper string jobs in the long run is basically like nurturing an expensive 200 dollar investment for years to come. I tend to agree at some level. However, we have to differentiate playability from racket safety. I fully agree that stringing the mains side-to-side will not make anyone lose a match that he/she would have won otherwise. BUT it increases the risk of damaging and breaking the frame with every single string job and also in clashes due to the uneven load inside the frame. And keeping the racket safe should be the top priority for any stringer. Of course, if your sponsor hands you 30 rackets per year anyways, you couldn't care less about that side of the coin.
Dear Santa, I did a very bad thing today... Now I feel seriously filthy and I’m going to take a shower before Christmas eve is about to start. I still hope to get my presents. Yours Simon P.S.: There is no reason to worry, I feel fine. You’ll learn the background for this epic f*ckup in due time. Merry Christmas to all of you!
So I guess there's a video of what NOT to do coming soon? Or was there some LSD lacing in the latest batch of strings?
I’ll just leave this here… https://www.reddit.com/r/badminton/...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
