So here's a machine I bet you haven't seen before. ;) The stringer for my local recreational club didn't want to string anymore and apparently it was the club's machine so they asked if someone was interested in taking it. So I went to get it today, had no idea what it was. Turned out to be an Exthree EX-600. Purchase date 901004. A portable dropweight machine with 6 point mounting system. Unfortunately the proper mounting brackets for the side supports are missing for 3 of them. Maybe I can add some rubber or something there. Some pretty interesting stuff in the papers that came with it. Like a table for recommended tensions for badminton, squash and tennis. For badminton it says:
Aluminium or steel rackets for recreational play 12-14 lbs
Advanced rackets with alumininum frame and graphite shaft 15-18lbs
Top rackets with full graphite 17-20lbs.

So what do you reckon? Hopefully shouldn't be completely unusable to start learning to string on? I obviously won't do any high tensions on it. Max will probably be my own racket up to maybe 12kg. This is the machine btw that produced the ~7,7kg result when I asked for 11kg that I wrote about in the string frequency thread. Hopefully that was more due to user error than the machine... First thing I'll try to do is calibrate it. What seems most worrying to me are the clamps. First there are only two, but I guess you can get by with that? Then they don't look like any I've seen in any stringing videos, they seem made to clamp two strings at once?

Nice! It will be fine to learn on. But I'd definity make sure the side supports are fixed somehow. If you can't figure something out, Chudek from this forum makes curstom supports for a lot of machines for not a lot of money and will probably be able to make something for it.

Those are called flying clamps, the way you use them is to clamp the string you are tensioning to its previously tensioned neighbour. It will twist a bit when yiu release the weight, but it should move back straight when you pull the next string. There are plenty videos about it on youtube.
I'd check with a tool if the markings on the weight arm are correct!

You are aware that carlton logo on those factory strings hasn't produced for at least 15 years? That string is 15 years old??? I'd start there, not with your 12kg racket.

There are plenty of good threads and stickies on this forum to help you out.

    Good luck!

It's maybe not visible in the pictures but the small round ones do actually give a bit of support and was what the guy that had it previously only used. The bigger one was that I found in the bag with accessories that came with it. I read in the manual later that there are different tennis and badminton supports so that might actually be what it's for. But I'll see what I can do.

Oh all flying clamps work like that... I guess that makes sense since they're not fixed to anything for support. I have seen pretty much all videos I could get my hands on but had somehow missed that detail. So I guess that means you can't have exactly the same workflow with flying clamps as fixed? I know kwun has a video showing how to start with flying clamps.

Haha yeah that racket is probably 20 years old, it's not what I play with :). It's just something I had lying around that I used to figure out the mounting and maybe to start practicing on before I try my real rackets.

So anyway I have seen all your machines and I've got a question, where do you buy your machine? I have a plan to buy Yonex precision 5 and I do know some website who sells it, but Im just curious where did you buy one for yourself?

Some coverplates so the string can’t touch the greasey bearings. Sloping gripper for easier string-inlet, and a softer corner at the back when attaching the string in the gripping moment.

Wouldn't this space be perfect for a QI-charger?
