Yes, you got it right, TPE is pulling out of the Thomas/Uber Cup and the two Super 750 events in Denmark due to Covid-19 pandemic fears.

Thailand has pulled out from Thomas & Uber cup, following Taiwan. BAT says it still hope players will participate in the Asian tournaments later in the year though.

I say , with so many nations/teams/players pulling out of the Thomas/Uber Cups, BWF might as well cancel the tournament this year as it's been degraded.

Denmark will be everyone worst nightmare.
Their singles will almost earn them 3 wins. Dare I say that who knows what Momota form will be.

Incidentally Ginting actually leads Axelsen and Antonsen in H2H. So do Jonatan leading both Axelsen and Antonsen. Its just weird.

All sports are already degraded with no fans watching. Champions League, NBA..US Open especially with Djokovic DQ.

Well its just a TeamEvent, let them play. If there are some fans, its actually hold more meaning than any of the above.. If any, just do it like NBA and let them play QF straight away with 7/8 countries.

let begin with semi-final if there are 4 teams left comparing the tournament.

Look at Djokovic or some football players, they are positive with Corona Virus and then they are fine, still play and run like horses

    Don't be too fear

No spectators/fans watching on-site, apart from TV audience and online viewers, is a different issue from multiple team withdrawals from such a prestigious world-class event, of world team championship status. Not only is the championship degraded, the eventual winning team loses worldwide recognition, may even be discredited through no fault of their own. What's the point?

I mean, if we want to go ahead, don't call it the Thomas/Uber Cup , give it another name, say, Men's and Women's World Team Invitational Championships 2020 - that , to me, would make more sense and give it some credibility. Let's not diminish or tarnish the coveted title of Thomas Cup Champion or Uber Cup Champion 2020. That's my opinion.

BWF insists that TUC 2020 will go ahead as planned, here's the official confirmation :

TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2020 To Proceed
    Monday, September 7, 2020
    TEXT BY BWF STAFF
    https://bwfthomasubercups.bwfbadmin...f-thomas-and-uber-cup-finals-2020-to-proceed/

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm the TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 in Aarhus, Denmark will proceed as planned despite today’s withdrawal of Thailand’s men’s and women’s teams.

Badminton Association of Thailand cited special circumstances related to COVID-19 in addition to injuries to key players in making the decision.

Thailand join Chinese Taipei and Australia as those Member Associations unable to take their place. Replacement teams have yet to be announced.

The TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2020 is scheduled for 3-11 October.

BWF’s highest priority remains the health and safety of all players and personnel participating in upcoming international tournaments.

This includes implementing a bubble system to create a safe badminton ecosystem for all involved.

    _______

2018 Uber Cup runner-up team Thailand pulled out will tone down the intensity of competition as not many strong nations in women's team competition.

why you worry so much ? you afraid CHN cant win ThomasCup?

geez, the best team will win anyway. and its Denmark who paid for the tournament, just like CHN paid for SudirmanCup in Nanning2019 and Suzhou2021, who is to say No if they want to hold it.

a 'major' tournament waits for nobody. no team/player is entitled to disrupt its existence. the final decision is solely up to the owners/organizers.
but in the end that 'new' title means nothing. would teams take the risk and fork out the expense to play for a novelty title with an asterisk? the 1980 olympics did not change anything when the usa boycotted. nor did the 1984 olympics when eastern block countries — mainly the ussr — boycotted. i highly doubt a single gold medalist cared which countries participated or not.
i agree. so, if the thomas/uber is held as scheduled the winners are the rightful champions regardless of who shows up.

Some may think team competition has less value, but I still think it is the most important. Just like soccer world cup, some players may feel that it has less value as they don't get paid as much as when playing for clubs.

So it is fan favourite to some fans, it has special value.

I don't think Denmark paying to be champion. I respect a lot to the Denmark government and the badminton association for this. They can give up but they fulfil their obligation.

Denmark has 25% chance to be Champion. Indonesia and Japan 30% each. China with 10% while Malaysia with 5%.

Im sure you know which one has fallen a long way.
